What batteries are you using and where do you get them? I live outside Chicago and the Yuasa batteries my local dealer sells me suck balls. They don't survive the winter sitting on a wooden workbench being charged weekly. I'm leaning toward a sealed AGM battery from www.ebatteriestogo.com. 210 CCA/ 14 AH or 190 CCA/ 12 AH? Suggestions?

Speaking of batteries. I took my side covers off and the seat and noticed that the battery vent tube was not connected. It is kind of a hokie way they designed it. It is secured in there very well and it comes off very easy. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Kawi. You must have the wrong hose or the old hose that is stretched beyond it's use. Go to Lowes and buy a foot or two for less than .99 cents

And maybe snug it a little with a zip tie. Just insurance cause battery acid is really bad for aluminum and stuff.

Create an account at photobucket.com then upload your pictures to there. Once uploaded, have the forum open and your album on photobucket opened. You then find the pic you want to post and click on the IMG option under the picture, this copies it, then here in your post you just right click and paste. Do a preview of your post and make sure the pic posted correctly. I also found out you can adjust the size of your pictures uploaded to photobucket, I use the 1024x768 option on photobucket, this makes a really nice big picture to see. Make sure to have the size option set before you upload. Hope this helps...

I finally had to get a new battery last season due to poor maintenance on my part. I ran it dry a few too many times. I got a maintenance free battery from Batteries Plus and so far so good. Having done this now, I consider it to be the first thing anyone should do after buying a KLR. Drive straight to the Battery store and Toss the POS 20 year old technology stock one and get a maintenance free one that won't spill it's guts. For the price, it's dirt cheap insurance.

Well here they are finally. See where the clear plastic meets that plastic piece at the top. There is nothing there to hold it in place. DXKLR, thank you for the help on uploading the pics.

You're very welcome, and as someone suggested, use a small ziptie up there around the tubing and nipple and pull it tight. Also you can go to lowes or WalMart and buy some Aquarium Filter tubing that is a little bit tighter and replace that piece of hose. As a note if the tubing is too small to slide upon the nipple, use a lighter to heat the tip of hose, not too close, just enought to warm it and then immediately slide it on, it will conform to the size needed and be a tighter fit.

The problem is there isnt much nipple to put that plastic piece over. It is real tiny and the tubing keeps fallin off. A crappy design I think. I will look at it more closely tonight.

I think that hose is too big. I've never had a battery drain hose problem in my 23 years of motorcycling and I've had over 20 bikes. Go to lowes or ace hardware and buy a replacement hose that fits snug. The tubing is in the plumbing fittings section.

On closer examination of the battery vent tube I found out why the house wouldn't connect. The plastic piece where the vent tube connects to is broken. There is no way I could of done that. I bet you the dealership broke it when they were putting the battery in after charging it or the factory did it. I am going to call them tomorrow. It kind of pisses me off!!!!!!

I was thinking that the nipple had broken off also, but couldn't verify that for sure in the picture due to the light reflection off the tube.

Have the shop reimburse you cash for the cost of a stock battery and then go buy a maintenance free one. If they will do that!
