I don't have a smart phone. I've thought about getting one, one of these years though.
How much do they cost? How much do they cost per month? Why get an iphone over all the other brands? Don't they all pretty much do the same thing?

Iphone 5.......!!!!!!!!!!

Good Evening All,

I have managed to reserve a Iphone 5 and I can pick it up on the 21st. I have been guaranteed that I do NOT have to wait in line. I can hardly wait. I feel like a little kid.

The "Smart" Phones are not for everyone. They are expensive and the monthly cost can be prohibitive. They are immensly helpful in my business. BEWARE, they are addictive and can cause major problems with your attention span. Self imposed A. D. D.! The average cost for the phone is 3-400.00 bucks, and the monthly can run up to 30- 45.00 per month.

My office just told us we will all be going to iphones...The big question is when?
If they move as slow on this as most other things I might get an Iphone 9,hurry up and wait!

This cartoon reminds me of my wife. She's a slave to her smart phone and spends at least half her waking hours looking at it. I also own one, but due to the cost, I don't have any 4G service or anything like that on mine. It got thrown into the package as a good deal when she got hers so it wasn't really a waste of money even though I don't use all the features.

It's kind of weird because back in the day I was on top of all the latest technology while everybody I knew blew it off. Now, they all have smart phones, laptop computers and "pads" and I'm beginning to regress. My wife gripes at me because I never have my phone turned on and I still use a desktop PC. Apparently I'm getting old or something....

I'd like to upgrade to the Iphone 5 also. I conned my company into getting me an Iphone 3 two years ago and have never looked back. I travel for work and the smartphones are very useful if you are not technically retarded. Never thought I'd like the Iphone until I got one. Since I'm a Mac guy anyway, everything is seamless as far as syncing data between devices...yes I have an iPad also.

Question, two years ago when I got it an unlimited data plan was offered for $19.99 a month that we need to leave alone. If I upgrade would that stay in place? The carrier is AT&T.

Haha. The thing is, all these devices have an "off" button. A very handy feature indeed.

I'm still a dinosaur when it comes to a phone. I just don;t need to "be connected" 24/7. My flip phone is on a pay as you go plan and most times I forget it at home, forget to turn it on or the battery is dead. The prices are crazy on these things. The iPhone 5 has a starting price of $699 here.

I can see why people like the iphones, tho. I must say, the best money I've spent on electronics in the past couple of years was my 64G iPod Touch. I use it for music, reading books, occasional wireless browsing while waiting at a doctor's office, etc. and for touch-control software that runs my telescopes. It's an amazing little gadget, I must say.

Cost: Varies a lot. Currently the iPhone on contract can be anywhere from $0 to $399 depending on model and memory.
Data plans: also varies, I'm grandfathered in with the unlimited for $30/mo, but AT&Ts current plans, (last I looked,) were $30/mo 3GB data and 50/mo 5GB and tethering.
Which one: personal preference and desired features/apps. I'm a fan of the iPhone because it works incredibly well for me, and I'm used to where everything is and what all the settings are, and already having a decent amount of money invested in apps. I really don't like the setup of the Android phones and the way you interact with the OS. Blackberry, UGHHHH!!! hate them, had one for work, has recently been replaced by an iPhone 4s, couldn't be happier.
All do the same thing: I guess you could say a Multistrada and a KLR all do the same thing...

The only way I remember ATT offering a $20 plan was like a 100MB/mo deal when they first nixxed the unlimited. Unlimited has been $30. If you are on unlimited, then you can keep it and still get the contract price on the phone.

And yup, I'll be ordering mine in the morning. My personal 4 is on it's last legs. home button is failing, battery is getting weak.

Guess I will be the wet blanket.
I have a Galaxy note and IMO it's great.
No real comparison, you love iphone or
you hate it.
Personally after the law suit I will never have an Apple
product. IMO that legal action compares to
GE telling Sony they can't build a TV bcuz they look
alike and show the same image.

My iPhone 4s cost me $75 a month. If your not able to get an upgrade price I wouldn't change. I work with major tech geeks and none are to excited about the 5, nothing evolutionary.

Apple was able to convince a jury that Samsung was infringing on patents, I have to believe that there is much more to it than the general public sees. I'll continue to buy Apple. If they had lost the suit, I might have moved to the frivolous lawsuit, hate apple side.

Twice the processor, bigger screen, lighter weight, better battery life, LTE, seems pretty evolutionary to me.

This is interesting reading..

My job requires me to be saddled with a phone, so work supplies me with one. I'm currently stuck with a old fashioned Crackberry Bold until mid November.. At that time they're going to throw whatever IPhone is the current favorite ($$$) and I'm hoping they're issuing I5's at that time..

Or, they can have the Crackberry back and I'll gladly take two cans and a broken string..
