Well you guys know I got an 08 with 3000 miles on it. Well it cam with alot of stuff. The klr bar bag. Klr tank bag. Highway pegs. Lower engine guard. Gps holder and wired for it. And last night I noticed a big chunk of metal on the lower forks just above the front tire. it's black and it says eagle on it. So I know it's to improve strength in the forks from my dirt riding days but I also knew it was not factory. So I've looked in the forum and I think but not sure if it's a eagle mike built fork brace. I really need to talk to the guy I bought it from and find out all he's done to the bike. I was just so excited when I saw the bike for sale on craigslst. I called him 10 minutes after he posted and went over as fast as I could and talked him down $100 from his asking price. And he even gave me his new helmit. And it fits lol. It's one of the new to me kind that the full face lifts up, and the visor also lifts up, and a sun shade is built in that comes down over my glasses. It's a really cool helmit.
I was also wondering about sprocket. I've only been riding at 60 mph and it's running at 4000 rpm so I guess that's seems in par what you guys say.
Wow I need to give him a call. Lol

Ya speaking of eagle mike I might get lucky and the guy did the doo. I hope so because there is no way I could do that my self. Just watching the YouTube videos makes me feel sick. Hey that's the ticket. I'll find a klr group in my neck of the woods. You guys love to get your hands into the klr. Lol.
And I'm sitting here at work. Yes I work every weekend to help pay for my sons bad grades on college lol. Or is it for him to have fun. Oh well he's a good kid just has his mind on girls at the moment. I guess I did also at his age. Just wish he would get better grades so he could get a good job so he could get his own klr and not ride mine so much. He's put more miles then me. Lol

Sounds like an Eagle Mike fork brace. Former owner knew enough to buy quality stuff.

You definitely should find out what he all has done especially the Doohickey. First question I ask when looking at a used KLR. Lets me know how much the owner knows or cares. You get some way out replies.

With the RPM and speed you mentioned I suspect a 16 tooth sprocket is on the front.

Nope he said that is the only thing he did not do to the bike. He said I should look at the paperwork he gave me. He did alot to the bike. Wow he paid $5100 new and put a grand into it.
Well I need to order the doo now. I still don't know if I can do it myself.

The doo is scary if you're not a wrench by nature (I'm not). But it is actually kind of straightforward. I definitely had help. But I'd rather do the doo again than the valves any day. Point being. The doo is a good place to get you wrenching. Get help if you can. If not, study up and get ready.

I'm guessing it's been done if he's got an EM fork brace on there, but who knows. Definitely find out all you can.

Okay, don't flame me.

Personally having done a couple of Doo's on the new models I don't think Kawasaki's part is all that bad. Ya it's not a good as Eagle Mikes but it's definitely not as wimpy as the early model Doo.
The spring however is another story. One that I did had a broken spring. So I suppose to get the spring changed out you have to remove the Doo so may as well replace it.

I don't recall hearing of any issues arounds the new model Doo itself - yet.

I agree. Went EM myself, but if it came up now I probably would save the $$$ and replace the spring. My .02.
