I just scored a kickstarter assembly off a 600 which included everything except the seal and the kickstart lever for a whopping $50. Is there any other lever that fits or does it have to bee off a 600 KLR?

Congratulations!

You're aware you will need a vintage clutch basket also, right, to implant a kick-starter on a model produced within the last 15 years or so?

Leastwise, that's what the big boys on the playground say.

Sad, if true; and . . . I think you give up a couple of clutch disks in the process.

Just a thought; you might check and see if the KLR600 clutch (and maybe a starter gear?) is available from the same source as the kick starter assembly.

The bike is a 95 so from the research that I have done it should already have the early style clutch basket.
Looks like you're GOLDEN, then, RANDYLBARNES!

Good for you.

I'd imagine any lever fitting your shaft and its splines would work; my conjecture only. My KLR250 kickstart lever is still cataloged, and I assume, available from Kawasaki; no idea whether it fits the KLR600 shaft or not, but . . . a good bet!
