Hi - 2019 entry to the Brit clan

Hi - I've just joined.
Always been a biker and have a Fazer 1000 as my daily ride but in a moment of naïve enthusiasm have bought a batch of 2 '89 rolling frames and 4 engines (1 in bits).
Plan is to mess around and see if I can't get something out of the mix?
I'm based in mid-Bedfordshire

I'm in Scotland which unfortunately means still british...
Maybe so, but you've got the highlands and good whiskeys that have phlegmy names and nice SSE where I can understand every 15th word and them Weegies where I understand nothing and you'll take the British pound and give me change in Scottish when I buy some 'juice'. It's all good!

I'll be back in Edinburgh for a UK visit in just 18 days.

It's been too long.

Poor Progress from Bedfordshire...

As I intimated in my original and only post - I have a collection of KLR parts constituting 2 complete bikes (minus batteries), 2 spare engines and a mass of other bits like swing arms, chains, sprockets, brake bits,... etc.

I have squeezed one of the engines into one of the frames and got it running albeit lumpy.

However, progress has to be honest slowed...and I'm finding myself poodling about with the running and roadworthy Fazer rather than addressing the more challenging KLRs.

So, at the moment I'm minded to put the lot up for sale on eBay......poor form I know!

Ah, well, it goes that way some times. I understand that KLRs are not plentiful in the UK. You should not have trouble finding a home for them somewhere in the UK, if bit by bit.

Hi Doug
Sorry to hear you've stalled on the klrs.
Mine was poorly prepared for powder coating by a previous owner and may need swapping over to a new frame to look pretty as it is rusting under the coating!
So there is a slight temptation regarding your collection
Curious...do you have crash bars, alu sump guards or pannier racks or any other upgrade bits?.
And what year are each of the bikes?
Are they uk registered? And i presume they are from a reputable source originally?
Of course the price would be an issue and would you split the cache to sell it?
It could cost a fair few pennies to haul to Edinburgh too so I am really only toying with the idea as yet..
Tempted...but...

2 * bikes + spares in the UK!

Hi Bruce,
Apologies for the extremely long delay in responding - I'm not a frequent visitor to this forum I'm afraid!
No additional crash bars or sump guards I'm afraid although one has a base plate for a top box.
Both bikes are UK registered to me, matching frame and engine numbers, and on a 'G' plate. I have a mass of spares too including one engine in bits, one complete (no number though), at least one new piston + rings, a swing arm, brake refurb kits, etc etc!
I will probably look to move it all on as I'm not really getting anywhere other than fitting one of the engines and getting it running using an external battery.
Let me know if you're interested?
Thanks
Doug
