I feel pretty good that I could get within a few blocks from 3,500 miles away.
Here's my thinking about where to put pins on the map:
- I won't put a pin directly on anyone's house or other place like their work unless they ask me to do so then confirm it. In other words, I'm not going to reveal your location on a map unless you really want me to.
- I like looking at maps so when someone gives me their location (zip code, city name, street address), I'll start looking around for places I'd like to check out if I was ever in the area. Places like a park, overlook, BBQ restaurant, historic site, etc.
- Ultimately, my approach is to place pins so that if a friendly rider was passing through your part of the world, they'd know there was another KLRforum member in the general area and they'd know an interesting place to perhaps meet you and go for a ride.
