Hope it works well for you. Just be aware of their posted statement

* Buffeting and other aerodynamic considerations will vary according to the riders' physical dimensions.

They did not add this cop-out statement just for fun.

With the MRA Vario you have multiple adjustments to tailor and vary the protection and buffeting.

To me, the Vario was worth paying a lot more.

So far I've owned a Suzuki VStrom and a Yamaha FJR and driven both at freeway speeds. Both were just "OK" in terms of buffeting with the stock equipment. Even with the FJR's electric windshield.

I guess its impossible for manufacturers to make the perfect bike that fits everybody. :25:

Forums for both bikes that I've explored frequently talked about two things everybody was trying to customize to fit them better: 1) seats and 2) windshields to cure buffeting.

Going to buy a KLR today and hope to get the tall touring screen with the sale. But I already know I"ll most probably be looking for 1) a better seat and 2) some type of aftermarket windshield.

Let us know what you finally decide & how it works. I'd be interested in hearing what you think....:35a:

I didn't even know they made one for the KLR... I didn't see it on their site when I was looking....

Madstad adjustable windshield bracket.

I had one on my V-Strom with the stock windshield and loved it. If they made one for the Gen1 KLR I would have it on my '05.

Buy directly from Madstad. Ask for a discount (worked for me). They have good support.

+1 on what tim said. I ordered just the brackets and the guy sent me a free shield because it took him 2 weeks to send it as he was in between shops.

Tall windshield review/recommendation

I was able to find solution using the klrdash and the tall windshield from KLR650.com. I've posted a review and a list of parts needed to mod the windshield to help with buffeting here's a link to the post: //klr650reviews.com/2010/07/16/klr650-tall-windshield-review

Cee Baileys & laminar lip

I'm 5'10", ride in alltypesw of weather & a lot two-up, and tried a couple things but this combo provides calm air(no buffeting) behind the shield and I still look over the shield.
CeeBaileys 11" shield and the 14' "Universal" laminar Lip mounted so it protrudes 2" above the top of the CeeBaileys.

BTW: 07 KLR

Laminar Lip for 2008+ models

I purchased and installed a Laminar Lip for my 2012 KLR. I have tried numerous windscreens for my bike in the past. I have tried the KLR tall, the Happy Trail Rallye, the Bajaworx, a ZeroGravity, a screen from Australia, and the German screen with the adjustable wing. Plus others that I cannot recall the name of. None of them worked for me as well as the Laminar Lip. Plus, the lip looks a while lot better. And it is less expensive than any of the above!:50:
I am 74 inches tall with a long torso.
Your results may vary!

I also went with the laminar lip and am totally happy!
Good protection on the superslab and no problems seeing over it in the bush!
I even went through a hailstorm on the highway without bruising!

I am 6' with a 32" inseam and ride an 08 with Eagle Mike raising links. I purchased the Laminar Lip from A-Viscious Cycle and can say it is one of the best farkeles added. Stock screen was too low and my torso was catching all the wind. The Lip flips the air up and over the helmet; good in the rain and actually makes the front end of the the bike look better. A very worthwhile addtion on many fronts.

Here's my lip with custom tint. I can't compare it to any other shields. It's not perfect, but what is.

I use the Laminar Lip with the Kawasaki tall screen. I’m 6’2” and it works great. I’ve tried almost every after market windshield on my KLR650, and this set up works, fits and looks the best, in my opinion. Try it, you’ll like it!
