Left side hand guard, I’m assuming there’s a interesting story coming?
Soft sand, heavy bike. Over it went. Just cracked the hand guard.Left side hand guard, I’m assuming there’s a interesting story coming?
Crash bars are too heavy to an already heavy bike. Plus I don't do trails. It was soft sand that got me. I have a custom hand made skid plate coming. Do have a tent and camping gear I throw on the back.crash bars, wind screen risers, saddle bags, skid plate, bar bag, gps, camp fire, table, tent, cooler full of cold drinks, steaks on the grill ... left hand guard ... the rider ... the list is nearly endless
Correct, I was scoping out fishing spots. As I do travel with a fishing rod. Having a fire is a delicate thing as so many fire bans everywhere.Other than the hand guard, picked that out before I read replies, a fishing rod and camp fire.
Honorable mention, second bike to enjoy the day with a friend.
I’m gonna find a way to secure a set of two piece rods to my bike. One spinning for trout and one baitcasting in case I find bigger fish.Correct, I was scoping out fishing spots. As I do travel with a fishing rod. Having a fire is a delicate thing as so many fire bans everywhere.
If crash bars are too heavy that means no stripper pole either I assume? Glad your not hurt or too much damage done. I saw some wind deflectors on eBay cheap the other day if your looking to replace it with the stock ones.Crash bars are too heavy to an already heavy bike. Plus I don't do trails. One of those would be great to sneak into amusement parks to snatch pond fish. 😁If crash bars are too heavy that means no stripper pole either I assume? Glad your not hurt or too much damage done. @Restless ... I bought a fishing pole that collapses into the size of a large pen. Has a small reel. Never tried to use it but its kind of cool.
I can't find ones I like or want in Australia. Want to keep the big vibration dampening in the handlebars. So the new ones need to be clip on style. Ideally using the existing mounts or a metal frame with plastic guard over top. Amount of times birds have hit the guards while cruising and nearly broke the guards. Those Tupperware wind deflectors from the factory are hardly worthy of be called guards. Good you broke one. Now you can get good ones.
I have a 3pc travel spinning rod that is a Barramundi rod. So can happily flick any lures for anything freshwater down here.I’m gonna find a way to secure a set of two piece rods to my bike. One spinning for trout and one baitcasting in case I find bigger fish.
Will pass on the pole, maybe a jousting stick for a KLR duel. I wasn't on the bike. Got off, stand down, turned around then over it went. They are built tough the KLR. Will get a replacement original one till I can find a suitable replacement one. Ideally a metal frame with plastic cover that uses the original mount or a clip on. Take them off and go for a ride. Bet you feel a difference then. Riding back home with one hand guard, can definitely tell the difference with and without hand guards. Skid plate is a must, the plastic one will crack eventually, so I am getting a custom one made. I can see the point of the crash bars, but that is not my style of riding and nor do I see myself going serious off roading to require them. Light dirt roads, back roads and firetrails occasionally is the limit of the dirt I will be doing.I must be a very insensitive guy, I can honestly say that after fitting engine guards, skid plate and bark busters I could not feel an increase in weight.
I like the amount of wind deflection the stock KLR wind deflectors give. The problem is finding another set that gives the same deflection and protection. Plus keeping the bar weights. I haven't found a set that will do that. I think I will adapt the originals to fit a set of hand guards. Will pass on the pole, maybe a jousting stick for a KLR duel. I wasn't on the bike. Wouldn't try and catch anything of any size with a pen fishing rod.
