That is pretty cool looking. If it were closer I would check it out and perhaps add it to the stable. It is hard to tell from the photos, but it looks like it might be a 3 point mount with the mounts welded up solid. Not the way it is usually done and there are some potentionally serious drawbacks to setting it up that way, but it could work if done right.

I made those, but I don't make them for sale. I teach sidecar classes and am trying to get a tour company off the ground and I made them for the business http://adventuresidecar.com/training06/training06.htm . I have some photos of the construction process up here:
http://adventuresidecar.com/ASSFLEET/assembling_the_fleet.htm Sidecars are more difficult to build, at least to build so they drive correctly and safely, than one might expect. I haven't seen any plans out there, either. I have been riding sidecars fo years and have built or set up a few for myself and it is always a fussy job with opportunities for a "learning experience"

Dauntless Motors makes sidecars and sells mounting kits for the KLR. http://www.dauntlessmotors.com/Sidecars/dualsportsidecars.htm I have used them in the past and found them to be top notch. I have one of the Dauntless mounting kits on the blue KLR and like it. Dauntless is making a platform type sidecar for the KLR(and other duals port bikes), similar to mine but nicer and with more ground clearance. I don't know if they have them in production yet. They also have the Sputnik, a lightweight Russian sidecar, more conventional in appearance. I posted a photo of one on a KLR in the ALBUM section. I had a Sputnik on my old Triumph Tiger and loved it
.
I think you can get a set up from Dauntless for around $2500 for the sidecar(more with options) and about $1000 for the mounts. You would have to talk to them for real prices, this is just my recollection from conversations with the owner.

This is a Ural platform sidecar on a KLR. Dauntless is the dealer for them but I don't think they have any in stock

Well it looks sharp, but I don't liken that it's welded to the frame, You said you made yours, you wouldn't be interested in selling me a set of plans if you had them would you ? I saw your sight, and how you made them, they look really good. I mostly just need the dimensional info more than anything.

Gunny, I started a thread over here:
http://klrworld.com/forums/index.php?PHPSESSID=c5275beaf61a88b741d64f97bd4a605f&topic=293.0

It will take a while, but I intend to put a more detailed description of what I did and some measurements up there. I will probably just post a disorganized mess and go back and edit it for accuracy and flow a little later. So check back and also don't take it as instructions of how to build a hack so much as an overview of what is involved and what you need to keep in mind if you have it done for you or if you try and figure it out for yourself.

that would be so cool ! do you have any pics of the build you could email, I have a welder, and the skills for a good weld, just no idea on how to "properly" make a hack

probably easiest for you to swipe the photos from the thread I referenced or from my website at:http://adventuresidecar.com/ASSFLEET/assfleet2i.htm

if you click the photos at my website you will get a larger pic, possibly more detailed than what is up in the forum thread. Be sure and scroll down and click to the next page-there are several linked pages of the assembly.
