Looking for some sage advice, at stake is my first KLR purchase. Specifics: I am in Colorado Springs CO. And have found a new leftover 2011 KLR for $5199 plus tax and a used 2009 with 600 miles for $4,200. Looking for a sanity check from the forum before i buy the new one.
Thanks
Dave

I'm not sure about the 2011, but the 2009 sounds slightly over priced.
Two years ago (early 2010) I bought my new/leftover 2009 for $4600.

go for the 11. Hopefully they figured out the oil issue and you will know how it was treated during break in. Also, try to get a few hundred knocked off that price and it would be a good one, 1000 under msrp.

In 2010 you could buy a cbr1000 for $8000 brand spanking new so not a very good comparison. Companies over produced, dealers over bought, and the economy was crappier than today.

Dave, Pay whatever you are comfortable with paying.
Make a lower offer for the bike and see If the dealer is interested in negotiating a lower price. Nothing to lose.
$5199 plus tax and license is a fair price. I wouldn't pay any freight or prep fees.
Good luck!
