Hello everyone. Not new to riding, but just bought a 2012 KLR 650-black, to add to the other in my garage. As it is completely gutless compared to my KX450f, and ZRX1200, I was hoping for some tips on how to quickly change this Calif. model to something less....restricted. Exhaust mods (FMF, etc.-jets, etc.),foot peg swap, best tires (want dirt capability-and water).
Will be looking for rides and stories of rides.
So far, one day of ownership, I'm pleased, except for lack of power.

2001 ZRX 1200-Muzzy, Ivan's jet kit
2009 KX450f-FMF, Scott's
2000 KX250-FMF
1980 KZ 1000 LTD-Kerker
All Kawasaki's, of course, but three green one's!

If you can't get over the low power - sell it. This bike doesn't have alot of power and torque (which is fun). But the bike has alot of soul and is a lot of fun.
Now if you want to give your bike a little bit of pep, ie. spin the tire in the gravel as oppose to not being able to, there are a few things you can do.
I assume the Cali model has more restrictions, so remove that and plug up whatever needs plugged.
.22 mod or james dean kit, remove snorkle, frugal exhaust mod or pipe of your liking. That's about all you can do. Or dump alot of money into it to gain 1 more hp.
Tires - rear 606 and front mt21 is an excellent combo for dirt duty.
