I picked up a new 09 last weekend and was wondering what issues have come up during the first 12 months of ownership requiring return to the dealerfor work covered under warranty.

I just noticed the front fork lock isn't working on mine. When I push the key in/out while in the off position it will then only turn about half way towards the lock position and the key won't come out unless I turn it back to off. The wheel is fully turned to the left when unsuccessfully trying to lock the fork. Anybody else have this problem?

Mine does that once in awhile. I spray some Dupont Teflon lube in there and that seems to take care of it. You want to use a dry type lube in the lock so it doesn't get gunked up.

Also wiggling the bars a bit from full lock sometimes helps.

I wouldn't take a bike back to the dealer short of a major engine failure (under warranty). The dealer is a one time event as far as I'm concerned, buy the bike and get out!

DonD,
I double checked and the wheel is fully turning all the way to the left or right and the fork still won't lock in either position.

Spec,

Bingo! That was it. I had to wiggle the wheel a bit from full lock position and the key would fully rotate to lock it. I'll look into the dry lube spray you recommended. Do you know where it's easily found? Thanks again for the inputs.

I've gotten the spray can at Lowe's. Rocky Mt. has the squeeze bottle.
