Hello everyone, my name is Paden and My first bike was a 2005 klr650 and so was my second one. I’ve been riding for about 3 years now. Last February I was hit on my 05 and messed up my back and my bike. Since it was my first I did t want to let it go so I bought it back from the insurance company.since it was totaled and I didn’t want to put it back on the road I turned it into a drag bike. I fixed it back up In my back yard while I was in a back brace. As of now I have supermoto wheels, bigger 44mm carb, ms100 gas, smaller gas tank, took all the stuff off that I don’t need to get me down the track. It’s still a work in progress. There is more to come when the money is available. Kids, wife, and mortgage taking my money.

Welcome to the forum, Paden87. Are you running 1/8th miles only?

Are you topping out in 4th gear in the 1/8th? Or are you geared down for a stronger launch & having to use all 5 gears?

Have you tried both types of gearing to compare E.T. s?

Right now I’m just getting into 4th right before the finish. Yes it’s just the 1/8th right now because I live 15 mins from it. For the gearing I’m just 1 tooth down in the front

You might try 15 / 45 teeth combo to see if it Eliminates the shift into 4th gear.
43 / 14 = 3.0714
45 / 15 = 3.000
43 / 15 = 2,8666

How much time does each shift take? 0.2 - 0.5 seconds?

What RPM are you peaking at in 3rd as you shift? Have you considered 'Degreeing' your camshafts to allow a little more 'over-run' on peak HP rpm?

Look at theses dyno charts,

Looks like another 1200 rpm pretty easily, to my eyes.

$145.00 with sprocket exchange.

Both klrchris & souperdoo have good articles to walk you thru the degreeing process.

I honestly have no idea. My dash was destroyed when my bike was run over and I haven’t replaced it.

Hardline Tiny Tachs are cheap and use an induction pick-up. But they are small.
