Be sure to readHi, all. Thanks for allowing me to join. This appears to be a solid forum.
Springtime is when a person's thoughts often turn to new motorcycles.
Following my pals, I have joined the adv ranks and this week brought home a 2023 KLR650 Adventure.
Based near Portland, Ore., my whole life, I've enjoyed many facets of the motorcycling experience for many years (street, single track woods, dual sport, MX, flat track, etc.). A couple of decades ago I would have scoffed at the idea of a 400+ lb. off-road machine, but it makes sense to me now. I'm looking forward to putting some miles on my new machine, gleaning helpful info from this site, and being part of the community and the conversation.

Stiffen the preload on the rear shock to decrease the angle of the fork to lighten & quicken the steering.Friends tell me the steering is heavy, I wonder if that's really a problem. I'm 220lb myself!
Welcome to the group!Hi all, I'm Eric and new to the forum and new to KLR. My latest ride is a 2022 KLR650 Adventure and she's destined for our house at Shelter Cove, CA. (Don't tell my R1250GSA...she gets very jealous if she knows I'm riding elsewhere without her) My 2nd bike as a kid was a KX80 so I'm glad to be back on green. Have had a Versys 650 and 1000 as well and really liked both for their simplicity and stability. The KLR is meant for light trail riding and unraveling asphalt. The BMW is housed in Roseville, CA, just next to Sacramento and that's where I am 3/4 of the time. I really appreciate the tone and helpfulness of forums like this and want to thank all of you that are going to provide me some great tips and suggestions. Clearly, a very experienced crowd and given where I'm going to garage the KLR, I'm going to need help on doing all the maintenance myself since there are no close dealers. I don't mind wrenching some and have done quite a bit of my BMWs' maintenance but I chicken out on the majors and let the dealer handle those! I'll close up my intro with a reminder that it's Spring how exciting is that?!!
Thanks Mule! Yes, Lodi is a short trip for sure.Welcome to the group!
Maintenance is easy on a KLR. I do it all myself, as I DON’T trust any stealership to work on any of my toys 😂
Give me a holler if you need assistance.
I’m just south of you 👍
