Hello from Ireland!

Aged motorcyclist here.
Born in England, lived many years in Africa, now residing in Ireland.
I've just bought myself a 2nd bike as a 'winter hack'.
It's a 2008 KLR 650. Born in Japan, lived in Vermont USA, emigrated to Wiltshire UK in 2011, sold into slavery to Ireland last week.

Looking forward to some craicc on this forum.:smile2:

Thanks for the advice PDW. I've read that these jobbies can chow a bit of oil.
I rode this one from Wiltshire in the UK back to my place in Monaghan, Ireland on Saturday last. I didn't notice any appreciable usage over the 400 mile ride.
Most of it was on motorway and around 70-80 mph.
I'll be sure to keep a close eye on it though. I've heard one or two horror stories.

Croeso.

Mine was not an oil burner but took up the habit on a trip. Westbound I had no concerns. Eastbound a couple thousand miles later I was adding oil every fill-up. That was at about 24,000 to 26,000 miles.

I attribute it to riding at high RPM that year. If you ride at 80 very much you may want a 16t sprocket up front.

Oil burning is, of course, a great excuse to put in a larger piston.:grin2:

I wouldn't be up around the 80 mph for long Grinnin.
I just wanted to get home before I froze to death. It's feckin' freezin' this side.
I bought this KLR because of the legend the things have made for themselves.
They're not so readily available over here. (Emissions 'an all) It's a load of old tosh!
I've bought a newish Versys 650 for my main bike and sold off my zx10r.
Now..........after just a couple of days, I'm starting to feel the KLR love.......
