Hi, I bought a new ,2009, klr last year and just took my first long trip with it.
I was a active trials rider and did a few hill climbs in the 70's so it had been a long time.
I put on 2700 miles in two week with about half of it on the great divide trail:):). My KLR performed great.
Only problems came from me trying to go backwards about 35mph in the mud.
Nothing a little welding of the racks and a new battery could not fix.
I rode over 12 hours one day on the way home on the slab and it was not bad at all, EXCEPT, the taller Zero Gravity shield was worthless.:(
I am looking for help. Would one of the lips help a lot? How about a adjustable bracket like they use on the v-strom?
Any help appreciated.

PS. no oil use and averaged 50mpg. I ran 60 to 75 on the slab
Rode with one other KLR and 6 BMW's, of which two broke down!

Hi scarman, and welcome. Sounds like your enjoying the bike, and I hope you can get us a ride report or two. Some of the others will chime in with windshield experiences that might help you with the wind issues. Again, welcome aboard.
