So, you old salts were right. The factory recommended tire pressure causes premature tire wear.

At 2250 miles my rear tire is a the legal minimum. The front's maybe half way gone.

I've ordered some Heidi K60 Scouts as replacements. Mefo Exlporers were my first choice, but everywhere I checked they were back ordered at least a month out.

Anyway, I understand the importance of running higher tire pressures for asphalt use. I'll probably run 32 front/36 rear.

But what about gravel and off road?

I'm reading that the K60s have stiffer side walls and lower tire pressures might not even have much effect on off road traction. Any truth to this?

I've no personal experience with the K60's.
But on most dirt and dual-sport motorcycles, most of us 'old-salts' have found to use More air pressure in the skinny Front tire than we use in the Fatter Rear tire.
Remember that it is pounds per square inch of Contact Patch.

So on asphalt, without Full touring luggage or a passenger I would suggest to try 34-30 Front / 32-28 Rear.
I don't bother to air Up and Down for offroad, usually. But one could drop 10 psi on both ends fairly readily.
