Wow you came over from HD are you mad. The real bikers are going to beat you up! Lol. I have had one for years now and an HD. The Hog sits more and more. One will likely spend much more than they paid for the bike on acc. but they are cool. Congrats! most likely you will always look for one more gear and a bit more power but in the end they do the same thing. Point A - Point B (cheap)

You should be very happy. I have the same 2018 color, and love the color.
I have 6,000 miles on it in a little over 6 months. I also sold my 9th Harley to change things up, and I find I put more miles on the klr than I did with the Harley.
I have had very little bad comments from the ( bad to the bone group ).
My stock battery, lasted 3 months, I put on crash bars, and tusk paniers, and did the clutch and kickstand, safety delete, also did the petcock delete. ( all deletes, because of problems I caused wile installing the farkles) I put the 17 tooth front sprocket on and I love it, as mine is a tar baby.
I use the reusable oil filter, as I had them on the Harleys, and it just lets the oil flow better.
Its quiet and purrs, like a kitten. I have the dohicki kit, but will wait till the motor tells me it needs it, as I can hear how it sounds and feel how much vibration it has.
Happy riding.

An honor to have you join our happy (mostly) band!

The Gerbing's I knew honored its lifetime warranty, fulfilling its promise. My replacement jacket liner (along with my heated gloves (I didn't use my heated pants and heated socks this past weekend)) kept me toasty warm on a ride to the Virginia Oyster Festival in Urbanna Saturday. About 125 miles one-way; frost-on-the-pumpkin in the morning; wind chill? Well, a considerable part of the journey was at speed, let's say, at the Interstate limit hereabouts!

I appreciate your transition from Harley to KLR. The bike can do; I ride with a Harley-cenrtric crowd (American Legion Riders) sometimes; the KLR remains gracefully tolerated in that company!

Congratulations on your acquisition of one of the, "Last of the Mohicans" commemorative KLRs! May this website enhance your pleasure in ownership, modification, maintenance and repair of your new motorcycle.

Welcome!

Heated clothing is still usable/desirable on a KLR. Just use the LOW setting & another layer on top.

And welcome to the forum!

Welcome !

Welcome to the forum Mr. Gerbing. I'm still enjoying my heated vest, although I don't have it set up on the KLR.

A cheep and dirty heat source, is the newer sml ZIPO pocket warmer that comes with a fleas pouch. Just hang around neck on back and it helps heat your body and blood.
Used it alot in the bucket on cold windy weather, winter time.
Shoe lace and one of those things that tighten up a wind breaker, put it between sholder blades. Lasts 8-10 hrs.
$30 or less

Love the ingenuity. That’s truly a KLR type fix for those cooler days plus it doesn’t use any of the bikes wattage.

Welcome to the forum. Are you the same owner from back in mid 90's? I was in Oly at that time and made a number of trips up to your place to select/purchase heated clothing. I use to joke back then that the person who sewed your size tabs would often get mixed up. I still have two of those early liners and the one that fits me and one that fits my better half are tagged backwards...I'm 6'3" and she's 5'4" on a good day. Both fit and both still work. :wink2:
