So I took off the carb since it was dripping gas and as I mentioned on my previous post the bike lost power on the freeway. Just as I thought it was missing about a centimeter of float bowl gasket. I even noticed someone must have used some sort of gasket sealer. I cleaned it all out and have my new gasket ready. The main piece was in the float bowl and maybe small pieces had caused the clog. Since the seller said it had the 22 cent mod I check and there were no #4 washers, and the screw that is supposed to be backed out 1 3/4 turns was all the way in. I'm gonna remedy both as soon as I get to the hardware store. The slide did have a 7/64 hole already so someone must have taken back their 22 cents.

My next question is the float movement and the float needle that is supposed to move with it. Maybe it's because it's dry now, but when I turn the carb upside down and back again the needle is stationary. It looks super clean but maybe there needs to be gas in the bowl to make it move? I was also thinking aside from the leaking gasket that the bike was flooding. Gas was dripping from the intake to the engine side and when I took the carb of it looked soaking wet. Could a stuck float needle cause this?

Edit: I took out the needle and even took some pics. It looks clean and I pressed the spring loaded button and it seems fine. It must be ok and I'm overthinking other issues maybe. I got a lil scared reading about a stick open needle messing up an engine. I was able to drop it in and let it fall out easily and I do see ever so slight movement so probably fine.

I recommend polishing the brass float valve seat with metal polish on a Q-tip.
Gravity and light fuel pressure will push the float needle down when the carb is right-side-up.
But the float needle might be missing a tiny part, #16044-007. They call it a clamp, I'd call it a clip. It clips onto the needle, then slips over the metal adjustment tab.
But IT is technically an Unnecessary item imo, because gravity works, as you discovered.

Edit: added pic of float needle. It seems fine.
