You'd need to drill a hole on your side plastics to allow access.wonder if they will fit a Gen 1? 3D has them only listed under Gen 3.
These are designed for the gen 3 bikes but I'm sure you could use something similar on any year bike.

I have the same concern. I actually had to remove the heavyweight red threadlock applied from the manufacturer to even get mine to fully thread down without stripping the plastic knob off. In hind sight, a guy can just buy a proper sized stainless steel version on ebay. I searched and there's plenty to choose from.I bought and installed these today after modifying the Enduro Engineering skid plate to fit with TREX Upper Crash Bars. I am concerned with how well the plastic is going to hold up to the elements on these parts. I think I am going to machine a set out of aluminum. Anyone else interested let me know. I may make a hand full of sets but made of quality American aluminum
