On the sprocket side of the rear wheel there are two bearings.
My question is are the two bearings the same inside diameter?
I know the outside is different, but I am concerned about the inside being the same.
Long explanation will follow later.
I have looked at that same picture a long time.
I know the big bearing on the other side has a bigger i.d. because the spacer slips into it.
The drive side has two bearing of different o.d. but I'm not sure of the inner diameter.
The reason I am asking is because when I got my KLR it did not have the spacer on that side. I didn't know this and rode the thing six hours at 65-70 mph packing the wife and luggage!!!!!!!!!! The axle was finger tight!!!!!!
I made a spacer from a old BSA part that I had. I never throw anything away!! But now I can't remember if the inner bearing of the two had a bigger diameter for the spacer to slip into. If it does then I'm putting the load onto one bearing (the outside).
I REALLY don't want to take the thing apart again.
