Seat Concepts Commuter WORSE SEAT EVER. I'm so pissed right now I could flippin scream. There were so many good reviews on this seat. I have no idea how ANYONE could like this seat. My balls are screaming for mercy everytime I touch the brake....well when I can GET to the brake. I'm shoved so far forward in this seat that I'm on the balls of my feet on the pegs. I have to literally pick up my foot and move it to where I can reach the brake or the shifter for that matter. I can't touch either while riding in the the seat. If you love your gas tank, and by that I mean LOVE your gas tank, you will love this set. Did I mention THERE ARE NO RETURNS? NONE. In the image below, the red circle is where you sit. Not back against the hump. Even if you push back in the seat that far it's not far enough. To fix this the seating section would need to be at leasts 2 inches further back and the seat angle level or angles toward the rear of the bike. As it is I'm going to have to see if I can cut up my old foam and shove it under and level the thing out somehow. DO NOT BUY THIS SEAT. I'm 5' 11" with a 32in inseam. I don't even know what kind of body would fit this seat. It looks great, rides like 50 shades of grey without the pleasurable parts.

Seat Modification

I had great luck by cutting 2" off rear of stock seat, and tapering the cut to 0" near mid point.
Made stock seat more level, and allows movement fore'n aft. I made a seat pad, out of softer foam. I can ride for hours with no issues now.

Have you tried reaching out to Seat Concepts?? Did you buy a complete seat or a foam and cover kit? From what i’ve seen on multiple forums is the seat manufacturers are pretty good about trying to get your satisfaction.

I refuse to use any seat that forces you to sit in one spot......doesn't work well offroad. I guess that's why I have the stock seats on my KLR's

And it doesn't work well on-road, either. I like the ability to on long highway trips to move fore and aft a few inches. Just this small movement helps prevent fatigue and keeps your butt from tiring. Stock seats for me, too.

I just bought a complete seat from them and it’s great! It’s the 4th seat I bought from SC. My KLR is pre-2008 and the seat is flat. I know what you mean about needing to move around a little. Tell them your issue and they will probably work with you.

I’m afraid I agree with the OP. I’ve had SC seats on two bikes and my experiences were similar to his.

I know and like the guys from SC and they did their best to fix the seats, but after two tries, I gave up and sold it.

Just like Corbin seats don’t work for everyone (too hard), SC seats don’t work for some.

I have a couple of seats for my KLR today: A Sargent and an Ultimate Seat (kind of a Corbin seat but more $$$$) and I like both an awful lot.

Keep experimenting, keep trying new ones. Eventually you’ll find the perfect fit.

I was in the custom seat business for over 50 years. (Dirt Road Seats) For every seat that everybody loves there will be someone that hates it. That is completely normal. Some people like a seat shaped like a dish and others like it rounded like a saddle. Some like soft and others like firm .
As you said patroy 75 you saw rave reviews on the S.C. seat , but you don't like it. I'd bet you would like their flat seat , but if you did not then it's time to look elsewhere. It can get expensive. I always offered one free adjustment . Fortunately I didn't have to do many. I did mostly sport bikes and dual sport bikes . I've installed lots of Seat Concept seat kits (most seats need a long nose stapler) and I'm impressed with the quality. I've ridden on a few and , again, impressed . I still do my own seats and friends seats and I did copy their "Commuter" style . It looks good and is very comfortable , but I agree that i have wanted to slide back a few times and ....nope.
So don't get discouraged .....all butts will never fit all seats. It can get expensive to buy , try , sell , .....and start over.... but that's all we have . If you lived next door I could "dial one in for you" .

I had the original Seat Concepts seat for the KLR (before they made all the different models of seat) and absolutely loved it! It was the flat one though, it replaced a Corbin dual platform seat that did exactly as the OP described at every stop. I much prefer the flat style seat that you can slide around on vs the dual platform styles.
