Looking to get more of a 50/50 type of tire on my 06....I like the looks of the Shinko 804/805 big blocks but I am curious if anyone here has any experience with them and if so how did they handle on the pavement and what kind of mileage can you expect?

Any other proven 50/50 tires you guys can recommend? I have done the searches but I just seem to get so much information it is mind boggling, lol. I plan to use my bike probably 70/30 or 60/40 on road/off road but a couple trips to the Smokey mountains a year will happen as well so I am looking for solid off road performance. :smile2:

Well, I am more offroad biased so I use D606's and MT21's but I've had good luck with Continental TKC80's and Michelin T63's so those would be the ones I'd be looking at at that level of "offroad worthiness".

I've been running the Shinko 804 / 805 setup since about June. I haven't had any problems - and I've been on / off road fairly regularly. On pavement the handling is good. No issues at all. On dirt, pretty much the same. I ride graded dirt, ATV trails, rocky and nasty crap, some minor water crossings, a little mud, etc. Still no problems. As for longevity, I can't really comment. They've got about 3,000 or so miles on them so far, and they're still looking good. I'm expecting probably 5,000 to 7,000 from this set by the way they're currently looking.

The Michelin T-63's are dirt tires barely street legal and I love 'em.

The downside is the rear lasted 3k so far and will be done at 4k.
To be fair I beat the crap out of my bike with hard launches, wheelies, WOT
interstate runs, etc. No dual sport rear tire will tolerate such abuse very long.

They stick like glue on and offroad. When the front started to cup I just reversed it.

I'm going Shinko 700/702's next on back. The T-63 up front has another summer left in it.

Thanks guys! Cheap Bass Turd I see you are in the LaPorte, IN area...I am in Munster and maybe we could meet up and ride some time. There such a pitiful lack of dirt/gravel roads around here...I am always on the look out for new places to ride. :)

There should be lots of no leash dog parks? Those could be exciting off road experiences.
