I had a dumb dumb moment. I am mad at myself,:mad0235: but anyway. I had just got home this afternoon after a wonderful ride. Pulled into the driveway turned the bike off put the kick stand down and proceeded to get off. Being vertically challenged getting my leg over the bike is not the easiest thing but I have done it hundreds of times. This time the bike went a little forward and I must not have had the kick stand down good and the bike started to fall. I controled the fall as well as I could but it did go all the way down and touched the ground very softly. I then picked it back up and started to go over the bike to inspect for damage. The only thing I see is it bent the shifter lever up a little and a small scuff on my hand guard. Thank goodness. I still cant believe I did this, its killing me inside!!

Now here is where I need some tech support. The bike will only start in neutral with the clutch out. If I pull the clutch in it will not. If it is in gear and I pull the clutch in it will not start. All of this with the kick stand in the up position. Before I could start the bike with it in gear while pulling the clutch in and even in neutral with the clutch in. Does this have something to do with my kick stand bypass switch I keep hearing about??? Or did I bent something I am not seeing?? ADVICE WOULD BE HELPFULL

The bypases seem the logical place to start. The ego is more difficult.

Years ago, on a balmy Sunday evening, all our neighbors were out working in their front yards or just visiting or whatever. I was returning from a McD's run on my newly detailed red BMWR90S. As always, drawing envious looks from the neighbors. I slowly rolled into the driveway, put the kickstand halfway down, lost it -- dropped the bike hard and had Big Macs rolling down the street while the neighbors laughed and pointed.

You'll get over it.

BigIron is right. Ain't nobody been riding for a long time that has never dropped their bike. Think of it as a right of passage (rite of passage?).

I broke my elbow when I fell WITH my SCOOTER from a stopped position, or maybe barely rolling. Maybe that will make you feel better. :mad0235:

Also, I have come close to dropping the KLR twice and both times I didn't, but I hurt myself holding the beast up and should have let it drop.

Ride on friend. :16a:

Sounds like the clutch switch located in the handle. You might have damaged one of the small plates in there. Fix is easy. Connect the two wires going into the clutch and connect them to eachother, bike will start in any gear and with the clutch in or out but the nutural light will be on all the time.

Thanks to all for the support and the info. Yea I think I hurt my pride more than I did my bike. Just lucky it was dark and no one was watching. Thanks again.
