Well, I've had my '07 KLR 650 for a month now and have spent hours in the forum trying to learn all that I can about it. I bought it used, 11 months old and 2600 miles on it. Like many new KLR owners, I wasn't sure what were possible KLR quirks and what were setup issues. After a month of reading and testing various things out I have made some headway that I thought that I would share it...plus I see the same questions that I had being asked here and there.

First, my helmet is a Shoei Hornet DS. It is a great helmet and seems perfect for the KLR 650. Second, my bike is completely stock, so there isn't anything unique about its setup.

I experienced the wobble issue on the highway that is often mentioned. Having had a sport touring bike in Central Tx and dealing with 30 MPH wind gusts, I was somewhat used to the uncomfortable feeling of the wind grabbing your faring...I read about adjusting the sag (damping and rebound) in the rear suspension and the fork height in the front suspension. I figured that the guy I bought it from was about my hight and weight, so it must have been set correctly. WRONG. The rear suspension was way off, but the front was perfect. After setting up the rear suspension correctly, I noticed a big difference in how it felt riding it, but it still wasn't "perfect". I checked the tire pressure (at their coldest in the morning) and the tires were way underinflated (even comparred to Kawasaki's recommended PSI). I inflated them to the recommended PSI and the ride improved some more.

Today I had brand new Continental TKC-80s mounted on the front and the rear. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Great tires.

I say all this to say that I found that so far, minor changes, maybe even seemingly insugnificant ones, have paid huge dividends. I'm not saying that I won't end up with a fork brace or a fender brace, but the advice here in the forum seems to have corrected most of the issues with no $ spent. The tires, while I love them, were not part of a "fix". I just wanted to get everything in top shape and go from there. Hope this helps someone!

Good info to have on hand for sure.....Love my 07. Have pretty much about done all I need to do for awhile...the only wobblin I get in the front is at 80 around semi's on interstate, but that is a rare time I be doing that........and have learned to sit right up on the tank and lean a lil forward and that fixes most of the wobble.......
