Thumbs up on the destination!!! We stay in Old Town at least 1-2 times a year for a week or 2 at a time.
Thumbs down on having to ride 2.5 hours all the way down RT1. We did that ride down there one time, and that last 100 miles to Southern Most is brutally slow and straight!
Again, great destination!!

Why all the hate for the drive down to Key West? I’ve done it a few times(albeit not on a bike) and its a nice scenic drive, hopping through the keys. Much nicer drive than the 12 hour monotonous drive through Texas!

If my comments came across as "hate" I apologize. It was not in any way intended that way.
While scenic, that stretch of rt1 is very very straight, slow and at over a 100 mile run, is a killer for those of us that enjoy the twisties, hills, or even some dirt! I just remember thinking that I couldn't wait to get to our destination.

Hah - 12 hours - you're still in Texas!

Ancient joke along those lines (?How old? Well it was told to me by my younger friend who came over on the Mayflower :) )

I'll tell you just a little story then about these 2 farmers who were making comparisons, talking about their respective farms.
The Texan asked the Missourian how big his farm was and the Missourian said, " I got a nice little parcel - runs about 80 acres."
On hearing this the Texan kind of swelled-up a little bit and said "Why listen, I can't even go out and get in my old pickup and drive across my farm in a day."
The Missourian nodded and said, "Yep, I had a pickup like that once... "

No applogy necessary. I meant a metaphoric hate, as in unenjoyable. I get it, straight is boring and twisty is fun.

Im a year round daily commuter and my route can sometimes take me through 2 hours of urban traffic which can be very technical. So i took this route to escape the curves stops and potholes in search of those straight roads that go to the horizon. Georgia and Florida did not disappoint!
