Nearly 30 years ago the rage was to transplant YZ, KX, CR, RM 80 engines into the Yamaha YSR50 rolling chassis. Well you know the American way, if a little is good, more is better, right?
Two friends of mine transplanted the Kawasaki Tecate 250, counter-balanced, liquid cooled, KXT250R two stroke three-wheeler engines into their YSR50's, that they had previously modified pretty sharply.
The 1st one done would hit 42mph in 1st gear & might have been able to pull about 120mph calculated! It seized at 90mph once, while sorting out the jetting for a re-cut, twisted & re-welded FMF Tecate pipe. The Reflexes of the short wheel base really scared the crap out of him.
They were Scary Fun. For a While. They both eventually bought another stocker & re-modified their air-cooled 50cc engines.
