Since it's Heavy Dust Season here, I decided it would be prudent to just buy another air filter so I don't waste down time processing the only one I have, which is the original stock filter.

I have no issues with the stock, but thought if I was going to get a second filter, I might as well try a Uni. People seem to like them and they're cheaper than an OEM filter.

Looking around on eBay, I found 2 different offerings and 2 of the filters stated to fit a 2009 (it actually seems they fit all years or a very wide range of years) look different.

One is more of a dome shape and the other is shaped like my OEM filter.

The dome one is a better deal. Listing states it's for a KLR650 and I'm guessing maybe it's just a generic Uni filter photo they've used instead of a photo of a KLR-specific filter. I think if I order it, I'll wind up with one that looks like the one in the second photo below.

Any info from Uni users would be appreciated before I order, since if you don't get a good seal on your air filter, you might as well not use one at all.

I got my Uni filters through Amazon. It looks like the second picture you posted.
I wouldn't think the first one, the dome shaped one, would even fit over the KLR's plastic filter frame.
I suspect you're correct when you says "maybe it's just a generic Uni filter photo they've used instead of a photo of a KLR-specific filter."
I actually have two Uni filters. Like you, I wanted a spare so I didn't waste time waiting for one to dry before oiling it.
Initially I switched between the stock filter and the Uni. Then, one time when I was washing the stock filter, I think I used water that was too hot and it fell apart at the glued seams. So I ordered a second Uni.
I don't think there was ever a choice (either time) for a different Uni that fit the KLR.

Thanks guys. I'm pretty sure the filter under the "dome picture" listing would have been the correct one and not the exact one pictured, but found another listing for just 50 cents more that had a photo of the correct filter and still offered free shipping. Got one ordered today. For now, I'll just alternate the stock and the Uni.
