Locktite is your KLRs best friend ( and a torque wrench )Installed klr dash and removed unreliable bent crashbars in preparation for tusk bars arriving soon. A recent hilly laydown had pushed the bar into the plastic causing a crease that popped out upon removal. Plan on putting t line on the carburator atmosperic pressure air line and tightned lots of bolts that were amazingly loose on a 600 mile machine.
My Low Beam just popped as well 2 weeks ago (cold weather?) and I was shocked to find it’s just a standard automotive H7 Halogen bulb. Bought a brighter version on Amazon. Easy to get to thru the windscreen.OK, so today nothing. I've got a burned out low beam headlight and won't get to town until later in the week (70 mile drive), to pick one up. Sooo....continued working on rebuilding my Mikuni 29MM Smoothbores for a few hours. Haven't had these carbs completely apart since I bought them in June 1980, and they are in dire need of some TLC. When finished they'll go back on my '75 Kaw Z2 750 RS street bike. It's in about a thousand pieces waiting for a new paint job....maybe by summer.
Not sure if it matters, but my KLR is an '09 Gen 2. Sure makes life easier to just order it on-line. I'm in the middle of no-where, surrounded by cattle. And I do mean the prime rib type!My Low Beam just popped as well 2 weeks ago (cold weather?) and I was shocked to find it’s just a standard automotive H7 Halogen bulb. What do you think of the levers? I'm waiting for them to come back into stock.Installed Oxford heated grips, Warp 9 shorty levers (scared the shit out of myself installing said levers thinking I broke the clutch and cover), a cool cup holder mounted to the crash bar, a tusk handlebar bag turned onto a cool tail bag because I didn't like it on the handlebars and I still need to install 1 more piece of Kawa green bling - a NiceCNC oil filter cover/cap. All of these were Christmas gifts! 2023 is off to a good start! I'm almost done installing farkles!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha I've seen those NiceCNC oil covers and it is tempting yes lol. I actually ordered those engine plug covers they make. I know its cheap chinese crap but figured they're just engine plugs what's the worst that could happen.Installed Oxford heated grips, Warp 9 shorty levers (scared the shit out of myself installing said levers thinking I broke the clutch and cover), a cool cup holder mounted to the crash bar, a tusk handlebar bag turned onto a cool tail bag because I didn't like it on the handlebars and I still need to install 1 more piece of Kawa green bling - a NiceCNC oil filter cover/cap. Did you have to cut off the damaged section?Pulling the Lexx for a repack and found what the last barbarian did to the collar. Hammers should be a restricted item. LOL

It was just the collar. I extracted it and ordered a new one. The pipe is fine.Did you have to cut off the damaged section?
Do I recall that you are a transplanted Canadian?Sooo....continued working on rebuilding my Mikuni 29MM Smoothbores for a few hours. If you go to: Kawasaki Z2-750RS.web.com you can get the whole story on the Z2. I bought mine during my Air Force days, stationed at Misawa Air Base, in the northern part of Japan. They were produced mainly for the Japanese home market, since they legally couldn't sell the Z1 there because of the CC limit for their home market. I remember too many Japanese riders getting hurt on the 750 Triple rocketship. Mostly servicemen brought them back to the states, not that many here. You're right about Honda beating them to the punch with the CB-750 in 1969. Glad they re-grouped and made the Z1 and Z2, both excellent motorcycles. Oh, btw, I'm from New Hampshire originally, but I do have some long lost cousins that still live in Montreal.Do I recall that you are a transplanted Canadian?
I never knew that Kawasaki ever brought the Z2 to North America! The USA never got the Z2.
As I understand it, the 750 was going to be the Z1, but Honda brought out the CB750 in 1969, so Kawasaki delayed the introduction of its New 4 cylinder 4 stroke street bike to Punch it out to a 900cc Z1 in the fall of 1972.
So far I love them!!! They seem to be more "sturdy" than stock and I love the adjustability!! Especially since I've don't exactly have big mitts!! Lol. I read reviews that said the clutch lever doesn't work well or at all and you can't start the bike in gear anymore. Well don't believe them, the clutch lever works just great. Installs super easy. Well you do have to make adjustments after the install to the cable play....but that's a whole nuther story! Lol....Anyway for anyone else but me, a simple cable play adjustment and to get it to fire up in gear again simply take some sandpaper and sand down the pin that hits against the lever. Super easy and simple. I did it after I installed the lever. You don't need to take much off. And viola you can now start it in gear again. Great levers! Only thing that would have made them better would be if you could get them in Kawi green! What do you think of the levers? I'm waiting for them to come back into stock.
Thanks,
Willie
