Installed klr dash and removed unreliable bent crashbars in preparation for tusk bars arriving soon. A recent hilly laydown had pushed the bar into the plastic causing a crease that popped out upon removal. Plan on putting t line on the carburator atmosperic pressure air line and tightned lots of bolts that were amazingly loose on a 600 mile machine.

Rerouted clutch cable. Put it between the two water pump hoses as under them seemed to be stressing the cable. Put on handlebar risers with no cable issues. Finally got the tusk handguards to work. Rode her a couple hundred miles. Except for the baggage and gps of some sort i may have her about where i want. Oh except i want a 606 rear and mt21 front and...I better shut up now.

Last weekend I installed the KLX needle and 142 main jet, but couldn’t really ride. Today I got in about 30 miles. SMOOOOOTH like butter when you roll on the throttle. No flat spots, just a pure linear torque curve. Love it! View attachment 39187
Nice. What was the motivation for this change if i may ask.
I finally found a cheap bag for short trips that actually works 49$. 20liters so enough for my change of clothes and tire tools.

You should have used a chain breaker to pull the inner side plate 'back-out' to Lock the clip into the groove.
Did you install the clip with 'closed-end' forward?
Good thing the inner plate was a tight press fit. ;)
Why do people worry about this. It is forward half the time only after all. I guess it should be forward on the top but does it really matter. I use to ride dirtbikes a lot and never bothered or had an issue.
Put a garmin on my dash. Cut up an old softy type grip and put in back of the ram ball mount to dampen vibrations. Gotta wire it and fuse it tomorrow.

I have to say after going around the block the phone quadlock on the bars was less vibragions than the garmin. Since my phone goes in my pocket on trips I could move garmin to handlebars. But then i have 4 holes in dash that i guess i cover up with some ridiculous decal.
Installed the camel one finger clutch kit. I did not need a lighter finger pull just wanted to be able to adjust with more friction zone. Easy install and it works.
