Added a smaller front fender. Looks better than the ginormous stock piece View attachment 39011

Yes I had that done on my bike (04) previous to my purchase and it probably has less flapping at higher speeds than the stock one. My friend said to put the old one back on but I like it w da small style...

I put the same fender on my 2017. First ride I noticed less helmet area turbulence at highway speeds.

I installed the OE heated grip kit. I got the kit at RMATV at the usual discounted price with free shipping as well as a $40 instant gift card from PayPal, which was applied to the purchase.

I must say, it was a game changer for me. It's the difference between these old hands being stiff and achy after my commute to my hands actually listening to commands from my brain after the ride. As an added benefit, I've found that I can wear thinner gloves, which seems to help with fatigue as well.

A little ride down to Cape May yesterday. Small fire road out to the water for lunch and a really nice view!

Yesterday-installed the KLX needle, 142 main jet with new screws, AIS block off plate and removed the AIS pump. Checked the plug color, and cleaned up some wiring that was hastily installed before a previous trip.

Throttle response is very linear now, with just a bit more snap off of idle. Only got to ride a few miles to test it because of rain.

Changed the oil today and got to mount my NiceCNC oil filter cover/cap. Been commuting just about every day this year!

Rerouted clutch cable. Put it between the two water pump hoses as under them seemed to be stressing the cable. Put on handlebar risers with no cable issues. Finally got the tusk handguards to work. Rode her a couple hundred miles. Except for the baggage and gps of some sort i may have her about where i want. Oh except i want a 606 rear and mt21 front and...I better shut up now.

It was a rare beautiful day in North Idaho with temps in the low 50's, so I decided to take the bike out to my dad's place to bring him a meal and do some chores for him. He's about 12 miles away, so after I got done there, I went on some side gravel roads, went to another small town, fueled up with some non-ethanol premium at $4.30 a gallon, and then came home.
Great ride and did about 40 miles. Not another bike on the road.

Then, I decided to work on the bike a little. I had added some garage tool hangers to the back of my Apache case to use to hold a tent, or camp chair, or whatever else would fit when going camping.

But, where I bolted them on interfered with the two back latches on the case. No big deal since the side latches were plenty. But, I decided to take my angle grinder and notch out the latches so they would close.

All four latches can now be secured...

Then I decided to load up the case and rack with a sleeping bag and tent and was happy with the configuration. I still have room to add a folding camp chair and an air mattress, leaving the panniers for all of the little things needed for camping.

I do need to get some cheap dry bags to put the tent and sleeping bag in for added protection against the weather and the exhaust.

Last weekend I installed the KLX needle and 142 main jet, but couldn’t really ride. Today I got in about 30 miles. SMOOOOOTH like butter when you roll on the throttle. No flat spots, just a pure linear torque curve. Love it!

I took my bike to Walmart and parked on the sidewalk lol. When I came home I sat on my chair and smoked a cigar and just stared at it. Never again will it be so clean and perfect. As I smoked my cigar I realized I was looking at the 3 most favorite things in my life. (People excluded of course) So I took a picture. :)

After an extended period of rain, fog, and damp roads with construction muck tracked all over the damn place, I treated the Great Pumpkin to a proper cleaning..

Looking good!

BE CAREFUL when applying "Protectorate" to Motorcycle surfaces! TIRES, Seats and Grips are major NO-NO's in most peoples books. The risk of losing control is increased due to the slickness the products create on the surfaces they are applied to. Even though care was used to keep it from the tread, some can get on the tread surface and cause traction issues when cornering/turning.

A VERY nice looking ride!

I repacked my Lexx muffler. Took some slack out of my chain. Installed some tusk risers, see picture. And day or so ago I replaced my fork seals. I am getting ready to put the fork back together but am waiting for top cap orings and new oil drain screws and gaskets. I discovered during the fork work that I have progressive suspension springs. I thought my suspension performed pretty well with my 250 pound carcass on board! I am putting in 15 wt oil this time around. I ride loaded, not that kind of loaded, but with heavy weight other than myself aboard.

Regarding the risers, I was pretty comfy sitting but was finding by position to be a little awkward when I am out of the saddle? I haven't been on the bike since I added the risers. No fork and lots of snow and ice here.

Absolutely with you on the slickum advice! None was applied to the seat, grips or pegs. The product that was applied to the tires is a VERY thick gel applied with a sponge-type applicator so it's easy to control and ONLY to the sidewall.

So years ago. Like 1991 I said screw it and sprayed armor all over on the Honda 250 dual sport. I figured I would ride through the grass and it would burn off real quick on the tires. Nope and nope. Crap stayed on for days lol. I did fall in my first 100 feet but I caught it. Last time I ever did that. My worst fall was on my R6 going up a clover leaf getting on the interstate. Someone’s antifreeze overflowed on the road and I was in a lean. Ouch. Couldn’t see it visually. Front tire slid out and pinned my leg in a slide. Grass was soft that day so nothing broken on the body. Bike was almost a write off because it tumbled and tumbled. I went back to see what I hit and it was slick as heck.

I did the same on a slick of diesel. Some truck probably didn't have the tank caps screwed on tightly.

Myself & several friends once rode thru hydraulic oil spilled from a CO DOT truck in the middle of the tunnel about 1/2 way up the North side of Red Mountain pass above Ouray, CO. Rear tires started slipping, revs climbing, gently eased off throttles & we all stayed up-right. That was a close one!
The CO DOT truck was parked in the pull-out just above the tunnel, no one around.

I've often wondered if any other riders went down because of chopping the throttle or flinching too hard that day?

I finally finished an improvement to the airbox underside heat shield. My airbox melted due to some exhaust leak on the mid pipe joint. This time I pulled the subframe and took off the airbox, JB welded it and slap a ceramic fabric material between airbox and OEM heatshield. Then I saw Tom Souperdoo web page so I had to make my self a longer heatshield from 22 gauge steel sheet, sandwich the ceramic fabric between OEM heatshield and the DIY heatshield and installed it. Sorry no picture with the final setup, this is before I put the longer heatshield.
