I cannot find what filter to use in the 2007 KLR. I am ready for my first oil change. What filter(s) do I use? Cannot find it in the manual anywhere? HELP!

I'm partial to the Wix 24951, more pleats and better rubber than stock, and it comes with a new O ring. Napa also sells one that is a cross referenced Wix. Sorry, don't have the number but they will.
Ooop's, see that Erroneous Monk listed it.....Napa 4591.
ok, so I'm way behind on this post but I just saw this site that I thought would be good to pass along when above one of the postings was for a Fram filter.
You decide.
Yeah, i've never been a big fan of Fram filters. I read something awhile back that there were a lot of counterfeit's out there labeled as Fram.
One of the auto parts stores had a display set out of a cutaway version of a Fram and a Wix. The Wix was clearly superior. Supposedly the Napa brand is made by Wix.
That sounds pretty interesting. I'd be curious to see how that works. I'm getting a couple from NAPA today. I think theirs is made by wix. I just got the bike and am wanting to get new oil into it.
Found Fram CH6070 filters at Advance Auto from two different countries-of-origin (Korea and India), two different overall lengths--Korean product 0.16 cm longer than its Indian counterpart (boxes different sizes, also).
I bought one of each; put the longer one in my '07 KLR650 just as an experiment . . .
So far, so good; experiment won't be completed 'til both lengths are run through their service life and inspected.
I have images of calipered measurements, box printing, comparative views. Kinda dull, actually; don't show much more significant than my narrative above. May post 'em anyway, if I get awfully bored . . .
Don't think the difference in length critical to the KLR650 application, since each fits easily into the oil filter compartment. With reasonable oil change intervals, filters may not be entirely essential; Honda made jillions of small engines without disposable oil filters.
Still, I'd prefer a serviceable filter. When a filter chokes up, however, the bypass valve opens and . . . unfiltered oil is then circulated through the engine. Not the best thing in the world, but . . . no cataclysmic disaster, necessarily.
Adapting a "MYTHBUSTERS" persona (but I will NOT wear a ridiculous beret!), I must say: The legend, Fram manufactures and markets CH6070 oil filters in various lengths, is TRUE!
It has been a long while since doing the filter table. You might want to get on it again. Most are made by WIX. The marketing and pricing game changes very little about the filter. But. If you take them apart and measure the length of the media you will be amazed. Some are paper and some are 'mylar'. Good oil and a clean filter keep a KLR happy. '08, +300,000 km. Never a problem that could not be fixed.

Hey, I was thinking to buy Bosch oil filter? After reading your comment I am a little bit confused. Just want to ask you a question that you still use Wix? Bosch or Wix, which oil filter works better with klr?
I just buy the kawi filters from the dealer but honestly, with frequent (3000mi) oil changes, I don't think it much matters......and there are plenty of motorcycles that don't have oil filters at all.
Yet, the highly-stressed KTM690 (6,000 miles + service interval, I think) has TWO (2) oil filters!
No, I don't know why. Maybe the filters are located at strategically critical points in the lubrication channels; or, maybe that's why the mileage between oil changes is so long . . .
One more possibility occurs to me: The KTM690 has no oil filter bypass valve such as the KLR's sometimes inadvertently disposed-of oil tube; maybe REDUNDANCY in oil filters (if one filter becomes clogged, chances are the other is open) helps prevent oil starvation should a filter clog.
I went to Partzilla to order a filter for my 2017 KLR650 and they had no listing at all. I brought up chat and the rep said he needed the VIN in order to tell me which filter to buy. Not having the VIN handy, that didn’t work.
I then found the list here and went to Amazon to order the Wix 24951. Amazon flagged a warning that this filter will NOT fit my 2017 KLR650. It did list the Fram and K&N numbers from the table here as being OK. I am not a fan of either Fram or K&N (particularly their air filters) and prefer Wix, Purolater or Mahle.
Was a change made on the 2017 KLR that makes the Wix 24951 no longer fit? Any idea why Partzilla needed the VIN? That is normally only important for changes occurring during a model year.

Manufacturer's fail to update their fitment charts all the time but the fact that the Fram and K&N both list as fitting should be proof enough......but I checked anyhow and the microfisches show the same number for the OEM filter.
I use the Hiflofiltro filter #123. I get them at my local Yamaha dealer here in town for about $4 each. Personally, I think Fram filters in any form are about the cheapest quality filters out there. The K&N 123 is also good, but not worth the extra cost in my opinion. Wix filters are of very good quality as are Napa filters. Wix and Napa can be had at your local auto parts stores. If not carried as normal stock they can be gotten usually by the next business day as the distributor they get their stock from has them in the warehouse.
