The Tenere 700 is kinda like fuel-injected KLR, simple and old school as far as rider aid goo and I really like that. It would be on my shortlist if anything ever happened to my KLR. I know the KTM790 is a better bike but I don't want KTM problems or its, high price. Also, the Yamaha CP2 is a great engine.
There's a worthwhile review posted out on the Revzilla site. The rider rode it in various conditions and was an "american sized" dude (235 pounds, better than 6 feet).
He pointed out a few minor warts that any KLR rider would understand and know how to address.
I'm with roadrash, if something happened to my KLR I'd take a very hard look at the Tenere 700. It's like a KLR but lighter, fuel injected and ABS equipped w/ a switch to turn that feature off. Put some protapers on it, throw on duffel and go!
