Dont worry too much about it.
Just get on and go, sounds like your bikes in good order.
Ive done +300mi on a day trail ride on/offroad.
Think of it this way, its a tank and a half of gas or 3 tanks round trip.
Think about how many times you've filled it up since you've had it.
Think about the guys who ride beater 250s all over the world.
Why should you have any worries riding along interstates in the center of
civilization on a perfectly good motorcycle.

Have a great trip and remember, it is an adventure after all.

When you're tired or thirsty, stop.. Get a drink, walk around, say "Hi" to someone.. The you'll be resting for the next 15 minutes as you talk to your new friend..

As Tractorking mentioned, you should have nothing to worry about.. A 300 mile day is nothing for the KLR.. Mostly, it's up to you..
Ride 75 to 100 miles and stop and rest, photos, check the bike over, etc.. When you get back on the bike, think about the fact that you're already 1/3 there..

I've done several 4-500 mile days on my KLR, and several 1000 mile weekends.. Once you get one under your belt, you won't even think about it next time.

Don't worry Ohio is closer than you think. KLR's can go around the world, they can certainly do WV to Ohio. I know mine has...... several times.

I had the same concerns before my first long road trip (Jackson, Mi to Pigeon Forge,Tn). I had the best trip of my life, now I look for any excuse for a long highway trip.

Getting ready to leave for Seattle from Los Angeles. The KLR is the first bike I've put in 600 mile days on. Lube your chain, watch your oil level. The bike can do it.
