Prewitt Ridge Solo ride and Camp

Went down to San Luis Obisbo for a Memorial BBQ for SLO-KLR this weekend.

Day One- 322 miles total.

Day one tracks

Slabbed it down to SLO on the 101 - Not eventful. The BBQ was emotional and very cool with lots of good folks in attendance. Some info in this other thread -
http://www.klrforum.com/showthread.php?t=13063

After the BBQ I took Hwy-1 up to Prewitt Ridge -

It's about five miles from where the pavement ends -

When I was finally up there I was pretty tired, but found a killer spot.

I was all alone. Plenty of peace and quiet just in time for the sunset.

I set up camp quickly so I could make some dinner.

So I have camp all set up -

I thought I'd take some food from the BBQ to have for dinner, but I forgot so I grabbed a couple of granola bars and a cup of noodles from the gas station on my way there.

Then I realize that I don't have a lighter or matches to light my camp stove!! (this is my "I'm going hungry" look)

So I just decide to eat one of my granola bars and go right to bed when the sun sets. I didn't even have a flashlight. (great planning huh?)

First I need to take some pics of the sunset. It was pretty awesome.

Then I hit the sack.

Day Two

Day Two -
Eat my second Granola Bar / No tea this morning so I just drink some water and pop some ibuprofen,

I brake camp and head out by 7:30am. It's actually warm out at this early hour.

This is how my ride starts out this morning. Pretty Awesome huh!

It was nice to be rested when I rode out on the dirt roads. I was pretty whupped when I rode in the night before.

It's only about 15 miles to the coast and Hwy-1 but on the dirt roads and the goat road to the coast it takes probably close to an hour including a stop to air up.

The rest of the ride was great with the warm weather and not a lot of traffic.

At the end of the weekend I've logged 516 miles on the GPS.

Right on, Cabrito: like a modern-day Jeremiah Johnson.

if that's the movie I'm thinking of then that is awesome. Loved that movie. Not sure about the connection though.

Nice Pics, sounds like a nice mind clearing ride. Could a person carry a lighter to plug into a powerport for starting a fire? Just a thought.

I guess if I was really desperate I could have pulled the spark plug and use that.

Indeed. Man sets out solo from civilization to become one with nature. Actually, the "I'm going hungry" look is probably another common denominator between you and old JJ.
