Well, how do I start this. Oh yeah, today, I was an idiot. It didn't start out that way, because I didn't know where my ride would take me. Let me cut to the chase, I left the house this morning thinking I would hit asphalt all day. WRONG, I got this wild hair up my exhaust pipe and thought, lets do some forrest service roads. Under the right conditions ( just for starters, lets say you take a forrest service map with you, which I didn't ) I head out.
First stop was at some road constuction, I stopped and battled it out with a big cat, I think I won, but he might tell you differantly.....

From there, I had to stop and look at a customers boat......Yeah, we make service calls..This lake cabin is bigger then it looks. It is a 3 story cabin ( nice cabin, huh?)...

Theres the little jewel, the red and white one....

If you are following stromettes report (from the Stromtrooper site), she was at this bridge about a month ago, Coeur d'Alene Id....

I left CDA and headed towards Fernan lake......

And started climbing, still on asphalt, kind of.....

The road had turned to gravel about 8 miles back, but at this point, I noticed that I turned over 1000 miles on the odometer......

The road was pretty well groomed, but I haven't seen one car since leaving the asphalt....

I am now 20 something miles into the CDA national forrest, and have taking numerous turns onto differant roads thinking I will pop out somewhere. Little did I know that the CDA national forrest goes all the way to Montana and covers hundreds of square miles of forrest........

Dinner time, more later......

Ya know, its hard to tell by looking at the pictures, but at this point, I'm thinking WTF, I'm now 30 something miles into this place, I have no cell phone signal, I don't have a forrest service map, and my biggest mistake, I didn't tell anyone where I was going (not that I knew at the time I left). Things start going through your mind, like, what if I got a flat, or ran off the road down a steep embankment ( which there were ALOT of ) and nobody knew where to start looking for you.. I don't mean to ramble on, but I have found out that it is really easy to get lost in your own back yard....

Right before this bridge, there is a camp ground. As luck would have it, its closed. Not only have I not seen any people, I haven't seen any wildlife, I can't be that far out, can I?.....

At least I won't die of thirst. I normally stop and pick up snacks and water for the day, but today, I didn't. I thought this would be a quick run through the forrest and back to CDA for lunch. Another mistake....

The dust off the road was like concrete dust, wish I was on the KLR

I stopped here and checked my cell phone. I've got 1 bar, WAHOO...I call my brother at work. He says,"Where ya at" and I said "I don't have a f'n clue. I let him know I was trying to take the same route he did the day before and I'm somewhere in the middle of nowhere. He still has his map with him from yesterday(he's the smart one) and asked what service road I'm on, once again, I don't have a (you know what)ing clue. So I tell him to stay by the phone, and I would head 3-4 miles back where there was a 3 way dirt intersection with service road #'s....

Well, he pin points me on his map, and gives me directions on which roads will get me back to asphalt. After about an hour more of riding, I make it back to a paved road, thanks Bro, I owe you big time.....

Time to go find something to eat. It is now 2:15pm and I have not ate anything yet today...

Made it back to CDA and stopped here for supplies....

Lunch is served...

This is part of another bike trail that goes from Spokane to CDA, also paved the whole way...

The bike was already dirty, so I hit a few more back roads heading home.. I have been on these roads many times, so no fear of getting lost  ....

Last stop was at my favorite watering hole 2 blocks from my house. Judging by the sign, it looks like they were expecting me. ........
