Old Toll rd ride and repairs w/Snakeboy66

Went for a little midweek ride yesterday with Snakeboy66.

Started out with his rear brakes catching on fire.

He had to do a field fix to get us to the MC shop for some new pads.

Not to be foiled we still made it a fun ride.

More later...

All's good when you can do field repairs and continue ride in same day.

Yeah well that wasn't the only one we had to do on this ride..

We had originally intended on riding Bartlett Springs Road, but since we had the brake snafu we went with plan B.

Shortly after we had the brake issue we discovered Snakeboy's GPS wire had come apart so we fixed that when we fixed the brakes in the auto parts store parking lot in Santa Rosa, CA.

I had called MB4 earlier and he offered us his garage and tools but he had to leave by 1:30. Thanks Mark. We couldn't make it in time so we did the parking lot patch up.

We decided to slab it up 101 to Hopland and take the Old Toll Road over to Lake County. It's about 20 miles of miles dirt roads.

While we were on the long steep up hill section I noticed that the temp gauge was pegged at the Hot mark. Uh Oh...

We were communicating with our Blinc bluetooth headsets and I ask how his temp was and he said it was in the middle. That is were mine should have been..

Time to stop and check it out. Hey! There is a fuse in there! Um... It's my Stebel horn fuse..

Of course I never did my fan fuse relocation.. But from what I could tell my fan was not coming on. Checking the Coolant reservoir and that's full.. Good.

After a while my bike cooled down and since we were done with the uphill section and I didn't feel like taking apart my bike to get to the fan fuse we headed out.

Hopefully Snakeboy is going to chime in with some comments and a picture or two.

Here we are taking a break in the Shade.

Eventually we are back on Pavement -

Of course when we pull over to air up I can hear my fan coming on when I turn off the bike. Hmm.... Definitely was not working before. Going to have to check it out.

I aired back up with my new bicycle hand pump.

Front was easy, but the rear needed about 50-60 pumps..

Glad you got your ride in, I think it's less nerve racking when you have issues and your riding with others. Nice pics. What is your camera mounted to?

Good times! Cabrito, how did your bicycle air pump perform? Seems like it would be quicker and easier to use than a compressor for on-road/off-road adjustments.

No doubt that riding with others is the way to go. I would have been freaking out if I was alone and my bike was over heating.

Some of the pics are with my POS Canon, but the riding pics were with the GoPro HeroHD mounted to the handlebars. I've been using the wifi remote on the GoPro. It gives you the option of taking video or pictures. It also has led indicator light so you know when it's recording. Worth the money in my opinion.

Ihad my front pumped back up before Snakeboy even had his pump going, but by the time all as said and done we were finished in about the same time.

The rear was the one that took a longer time for me to pump back up because it's so much bigger than the front.

It wasn't really a race, and it wasn't really a fair test because he was having a few issues getting power to his pump. We even thought his brand new pump might have been broken.

I like the hand pump idea because it's lighter and smaller to pack.

A little video I put together this morning.

Do you remember that road? I think you had a little get-off when we rode it.
