a quick run up into the hills of Colorado

Well my riding partner is in the field and i needed to test some new farkles and bars as well as heated grips .

So my intent was a quick jaunt up the freeway and be back in 30 minutes or so ..

well i just kept going till i did a full circle up to few old mining towns of Cripple creek and Victor . I love these old towns you can feel the long history here ,cant get enough of it . One thing us Alaskans and Colorado has is mining . I was a welder for Ft Knox mine for a season in Alaska and till now was the biggest mine ive ever seen but Cripple creek dwarfs this ..

so i thought id share some pictures i took of todays run .
first stop of the day was Garden of the Gods wich was miny Sedona AZ.

I love these old town still very busy with miners and modern shops as well as old buildings with huge board walks full of history ..

Town of cripple creek below ..

and one thru the windshield ..

The whole area is loaded with old rigging and mine shafts ,machines and support buildings .

I love anything with a motor and found this Unique we see these in Alaska too and ive welded these beds together in -40 .. but seeing it on paper dont do its justice .

imagine driving this a mile underground with just that roll bar 3 foot tall ?

this a hill of nothing but mine tailings

Overall the mods on the bike were great but took a little getting used to being so much taller but i felt much less fatigued in loose dirt and twisties ,the heated grips were awsome early in the morning and it has alot heat adjustment to get it just right towards heat of the day .

The Rox risers allow alot of adjustment and wider bars give you wicked leverage .

all in all today was a succsess !

Enjoy keep rubber side down !

Great report and photos! I haven't been up in those areas for decades but still remember them vividly. Lots of neat stuff up there to see; a great place to ride.

I really am enjoying the long riding season here ,i put 6k miles on the bike in 3 months ..

I get tired of folks telling me why i spend money on that slow tractor yet im hanging with them on every turn up here ..

im well over posted speed limits with a serious giggle factor under that helmet .. Its been a long time since i enjoyed riding this much again .

highway 67 is a blast with long twisties and hair tight turns ...
