Where did you ride today?

So on one of those "other" sites, there's a similar thread----- you know, you took a little ride, took a few pics but not enough for a real "trip report". Well, I did that today. My buddy Mark and I took off for a few hours just right near town. We only rode 60 miles, but we explored some roads we'd never ridden before, and found one in particular that is a new favorite. It dead ends, but is well worth it- bermed corners, sandy stretches, creek bottoms, gnarly rocky climbs, water bars to jump- just awesome. I only took a couple of pics, because, in my mind I was in the Dakar, and was too busy to take photos! Here are a couple-

Where are we, anyway?

So POST EM UP! One pic ride reports, a shot from your daily commute, one of your bike lookin cool at the starbucks... Wherever you rode. I just wanna see 'em!

I rode to work today (shhhh I'm "working" now)..
It was 27 degrees out.. And no, that's not C...

Car and truck were covered in frost, and I just felt like riding, so I grabbed my heated vest, long sleeve shirt, Darien jacket, helmet, gloves and off I went..

I have to admit, I rode the V Strom. It was the bike closest to the door, so it won today's ride. It was also the first time I've tried to start it when it's this cold.. I couldn't have been happier.. I turned the key on, let the fuel pump cycle and everything go through the motions, hit the button and within 1 second it was running. There's no choke on them, by the way. It's all computer controlled through the FI..

It was a cold 12 miles, but it felt GOOD!!!! Should be in the 50's when I go home.. It'll be a heat wave!!

a shot from my commute home a few days ago..

one of the PATH trains (subway line from NJ to NYC) runs a few miles from my house.. and i noticed there is a gravel road, probably truck access for the guys that work on the trains, running alongside it until it goes under the river. i'm a city boy and have never taken a bike offroad before, but it was a pretty tame looking gravel road that cuts about 10 miles off my ride.. and also cuts out 10 miles of city traffic.

you just have to put up with the looks from the guys on the train ; )

Ogre I remember your original post about commuting. Made me miss Florida and my Honda Scrambler 305. Bet you wake up with a smile every day and can't wait to leave work. I ride city streets but the KLR is 15 minutes and Light Rail is 45-60 minutes.

Larryboy good photo and it shows almost exactly what you are doing at that time. You are brave to be taking photos while crossing the Sacramento River on Hwy 50 / Capital City Freeway at that hour.

Lessons will tell you a little, but the only real way to get comfortable on sand is to ride it..

The weird thing is, after a little sandy seat time, you don't even notice it (as much)..
