Most of my x-country trips arn't on the KLR, but they average 500-600 mi per day. My trips on the KLR usually include lots of offroad riding so the average about 250 mi per day.

Honestly, it does not matter what anyone else has done because only you can determine your tolerance level.

My bike is stock except for highway pegs. I have a 11+ shield, but it's not on right now.

I've done 500 mile days mixed with gravel, offroad, back roads, and intercraps. I was, without question, done for the day! If I was on a multi day trip, I'd have to set mixed mileage at 350 probably. Without any off roading and minimal intercraps, can probably bump to 400.

Intercraps only... 2 hours and I've had it, so 140 miles or so.

I've done 200 ml sunday rides on 2ndy hwys .The reason I ask is I"m planning a trip and want to be realistic with travel expectations .My 1st day looks to be the longest 350 +/- miles(thats on the high side ) the next days are all shorter. In the end I know it comes down to individual ability , but I'm asking to get a feel for whats possible.

Well rip-rock,it really depends on what kinda trip your takin. If there is a destination and schedule, that's one kind of trip.If your on a motorcyle ADVENTURE trip, that's another. When I/we load up for a motor cycle Adventure,I've done as little as 150 and as much as 600.If there is no schedule,my fav,we stop and look, talk, eat, laugh, and RELAX.People are always interested in what your doin.I get a sick sense of pleasure when the conversation goes like this

Person; Nice Bike
Me; Thanks
Person; Someday I'ld like to have a bike like that.
What kind is it,a BMW?
Me; No,its a Kawasaki Long Range
Person; Wow.Where ya headin?
Me; Nowhere,just goin
This is where I get my sick sense of pleasure as I watch his eyes glaze over.
Just enjoy your bike and pick a direction with no time or mile limit. My last semi long range which was only 2500 miles was only going North and East as direction with no destination.Ended up somewhere in Maine.

Ride and enjoy

Mike

When I had my KLR it was good for 400-1000 mile days. I rarely ride less than 400 in a day on any of my bikes. The KLR was really good for big miles, probably better than my Ulysses in the wind protection department.
