Bartlett Springs Loop (near Clear Lake)

Another good loop for Sacramento peeps, thought I would share. Nothing too technical here, still quality fire roads and doubletrack. We did Knoxville-Berryessa and then shot over to 20 from Lower Lake. From Clearlake Oaks on Hwy20 turn right on High Canyon Road - right on Bartlett Springs - right on M12 - right on Bear Creek Road..dead end into Hwy20. From the intersection of hwy20 and High Canyon to Hwy20 and Bear Creek is all dirt - 67 miles with a little play at the north end of Indian Valley Reservoir. Took us about 3.5 hrs. This loop is very scenic and isolated. Have fun.

Next time, I want to cut out Knoxville and head further north - exploring - exiting at Stonyford. Lots to do up there.

the Mendocino has thousands of miles of roads and trails

Here's Stonyfords OHV trails.
Grindstone Ranger District Stonyford Area OHV Map (pdf 1.0mb).
Upper Lake Ranger District Northern Area OHV Map (pdf 687kb).
Upper Lake Ranger District Southern Area OHV Map (pdf 1.3mb).

Lake Pilsbury is a good Base camp. then you can ride to the top of Hull Mountian. with side roads and trails all over the top.
Another fun thing is the Sheetiron.. from Stoneyford to Fort Bragg dualsport ride. Google for info.

We were just up at Pillsbury last weekend. Snow was halfway up the mountian. It usually get a good 10 feet or so.. With these small storms this week, and if we get any more. I dont think you could get thru till early april.... maybe.
