Over Tioga Pass to Mono Lake

We went to Sonora - did Cottonwood Road to Cherry Lake. Over Tioga Pass to Mono Lake. Around the lake - brutal sand for 40 miles. Back home over Monitor Pass. 504 miles total. A few pictures from the day.

The only picture we stopped to take in Yosemite.

The canyon in the far far background is where we came from - Tioga Pass.

Sand was deep.

South shore Mono Lake.

Taking a beating. I think Chad took this right after I ripped my pants and almost broke my leg.

Not much shade out there.

Part II

One of the few sections that was compact silt - fun to ride.

Sawtooth Mountains from Bridgeport. We rolled into here around 6pm and collapsed on this grass.

I was on these roads last year on my trip up to Nevada/Bodie/Newport when I decided what a lovely side trip the south shore of Mono would make.

What Spec said. It absolutely sucked. Hated it!

I spent every evening in this spot next to the gas station, before heading up to my campground (just over the hill behind the flagpole) - it was the only place that had phone coverage. Hadda call the little woman who lives at my house and hands out work to let her know I wasn't dead yet...

Looks like you guys had fun though! Good on ya.

Cool pics. That sand looks...well, brutal was a pretty accurate description. Looks like your kickstand is digging for oil in that one pic.

Thanks man.
