Blue Ridge Meet 'N Greet

Blue Ridge KLR Meet 'N Greet

July 9, 2010.

Afton, Va.

MEET UP LOCATIONS MAP

A one day ride that is central to most in the region, and allows everyone to get back home again without violating terms of their kitchen passes.

On the proposal table:

Northern Virginia and area riders to converge on Front Royal, VA., and ride Skyline Drive to Afton.

http://www.motorcycleroads.com/route.../VA/VA_6.shtml

http://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisi...whole_park.pdf

It's not single track, it's not dirt. It is a great, scenic, slow paced ride, accommodating all skill levels. Ten bucks for a NP motorcycle pass, good for a week. 105 miles of wonderland with 75 overlooks.

Thinking about an 8:00 AM departure, putting us in Afton around noon.

Roanoke, VA. and area riders will meet up on Route 220 and run the Blue Ridge Parkway to Afton.

KLR11Klown will coordinate the efforts there.

NOVA riders meeting up at Cracker Barrel, 10801 Battleview Parkway, Manassas, VA 20109-2349.

7:00 AM-ish depart for Front Royal and the Skyline Drive. Soylent handling coordination efforts, ask up in the tread or PM for more info.

THIS IS A TWO UP FRIENDLY RIDE

Eastern Virginia riders, well it sucks. You get to slab it. Still looking for someone to coordinate a group out of Tidewater / Richmond.
Great pay and benefits. Apply by PM to vatrader, or declare your intent in the thread.

West Virginia? US 250 or US 60. Lots of other options, none real bad.

Possibly meeting here, where the Parkway and Skyline Drive intersect with US 250 and I-64. We can call in the head count so tables can be arranged for the feasting and tribal affairs.

Quote:
***ON THE TRIBAL COUNCIL AGENDA***

Discussion of an upcoming Tech Session

Future Dual Sport Rides

Weekend Camp 'N Rides

What-Where-When-and Who's gonna host 'em. Be there or risk being volunteered.
MEET 'N GREET LOCATION CHANGE!!!!

Well, a monkey wrench in the works may be a blessing in disguise. The Blue Mountain Brewery voiced a concern about parking and seating. Seems another larger brewery in the neighborhood can be more accommodating, so, now we're heading to

Lets get the questions asked, passes applied for, permission slips from parole officers all lined up.

Damn I hope I am off that day. I like Blue Mountain. From there I can head down to Devils Backbone and Wild Wolf to fill my growlers to take home.

I won't know for sure until I return to work on the 30th, so if you have a maybe attending list, put me on that.

I will see what I can do. I need the $$$ my part time job provides. I will see if I can make up the hours elsewhere in order to get the Saturday off. No way it could be done Sunday???? I would still have to do the same things, but could take Monday off the regular job in order to stay out late.

Very exciting. IM a new KLR owner (ive been on klr650.net for a while but this is my first time on KLRForum.com) Id like to meet up with everyone in Afton and thought id try to get info or start to organize a trip starting from the roanoke/NRV area. I actually lived in Nelson County (thats where Afton is) for 8 years and know some great spots to camp / go swimming if the knowledge needs to be had. anyone else plan on coming through or starting in Roanoke?

Hey there Klown, welcome. Be patient, the folks in your region are on Appalachian Standard Time....they'll pipe in when they get fixin' to.....I'll be surprised if there ain't as many rolling north as are rolling south. Post up some, you need 15 posts to be able to post pictures here [spam fighter thing]. We need lot's of pic's to show the poor people that live other places. Stay tuned.....

....And check your PM's....
