Proposed Group Ride to Eureka and Back in June

Good Afternoon All Wise and Faithful,

I am really interested in putting together a group ride to Eureka, California. This would be a multiple day/night ride that would encompass the Northern Coast of California, its back roads and the scenery. Ultimately we would camp in tents along the way for two (2) or more nights. We would "rough it" and enjoy the company, outdoors and the ride.

I have not arranged a ride of this sort before, so forgive and understand that i am serious but experiencing a learning curve. I would enjoy your comments and insights.

Life is a ride that should be thouroughly enjoyed. ATGATT!

Sean,

What are your plans? Also the Nor-Cal Techdaze may happen the first part of June too! If it does happen, it is a must do!

My ears are perked up though.

Let me know.

Good Evening Muffin Man,

I won't compete with the Nor Cal TD. If they coincide I will opt for that. If they are close in dates, I will move the Eureka trip till later. With helpful advice like this it can be reality. Thanks.

So...

Is there a proposed route? What are you wanting to do? There are a ton of rides that can be done from there, and, or to there...

Eureka is only about 200 miles from here, with ALOT of ways to get there.

1. Hwy 128 to Hwy 1. Some of the best twisties you will ever go on, to Hwy 101.

2. Same route, except take the turn off for Usal Rd. WOW!!!! Off road glory!

3. 299 to Willowcreek. That place is a blast! Up 96 over to Etna (Nor-Cal TD) Fantastic ride!!!

4. Hwy 36. 147 miles of twisties to Redbluff.

All sorts of things.

Shelter Cove is a must stop spot along the way.
You can run the back roads to Eureka from there.
Specifically, you/we should camp at the Mattole Beach Campground near Petrolia...

If timing works out (work/wife) I will definitely be up for this trip.

Ive flown in there a few times.
I used to camp a lot in this area years ago.
There's the Mattole Campground on the beach, a nice one near Honeydew as well that's
more in the woods. I also remember being in a few other campgrounds between hwy101
and Shelter Cove in the tall Redwoods. There's also tons of places to guerrilla camp just
off the roads in the hills..just watch out for the growers protecting they're crops
