Blue Ridge meet and greet 2012 CRASH

First of all I would like to thank the NOVA group for all their help during and after the crash. Yea a deer did take us out of what looked to be a fun day of riding witb new friends. Literally just we just met minutes to before at a overlook on The Shyline. We were riding along at what seemed to be a very safe speed. Honestly the next thing I know is I am on top of a deer then down on the ground. I am not sure how long I was out but when I came to it HURT. I could not see my wife anywhere but Mack was assuring me she was fine. Mack you will never know how that maxe me feel. Luckly she got away with a broken collar bone and some bad road rash. I was not quiet as lucky. 12 broken ribs some even broken twice. My whole right side of ribs does not even connect to the spine. I have nine fractures in my spine a broken pelvis bone and one puntured lung and a lot of road rash. By the way the wife has survery Tuesday morning. Keep her in your prayers.
Many thanks to porcupine for the follow up with my wife and offers to help with the bike. I hope to be up and about in a few weeks. Thanks for the prayers and support.

The southern group was waiting for you. We were very dismayed at what happened to you. I hope the fastest possible recovery to both of you. Don't give up the motorcycling!!!

I kept looking back. You were there and then you guys weren't. I slowed down thinking you were going to catch up when Mack who was infront of me came back and decided to go back and check on you. Hope the recovery goes well for both of you.

Thanks for the continued support. Jema is in surgery as I type this. We will miss a lot of riding this summer but will be back in the saddle. I have been riding and racing all my life and racing this is literally just just a bump in the road. I will need to get some help on who best to help getting the bike rdady to ride. Thanks again!!

Godspeed on the recovery.

This does really seam to be the year of the deer. I've seen more out during the daylight hours and mid summer than I can ever remember having seen in the past. A couple weeks ago, I passed by one so closely that I got hit in the faceshield with dirt he kicked up.

Brother, I am so sorry to hear that. Nothing you could have done. I hope you and your lady are back in the saddle soon. You will both be in my thoughts.

For your amusement...

Mike,

Now that you are ready to plan your next ride, ok, maybe not yet...but

I will direct you to the other site that we used to spread information and rumors.

Specifically the Blue Ridge cattle call...

http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=791371

You will find the ADVrider.com site is an endless and often entertaining site.
Our Southeast region seems to have vast list of repeat offenders and they know who they are.
Enjoy the distraction.

Hey guys. Just wanted to let you know Jema made it through survery and has been taken home to recoop. Thanks for the continued well wishes and prayers. It's tough not being there with her. I on the other hand am being moved to a rehab facility tonight. I am off the oxygen and my right lung is holding in there. Saw pics of the bike and it looks pretty darn good. In fact it looks way better than I do. But what do you expect from a KawasKi. Gotta love em! Hope to meet eveeryone in the coming months.
