Now that the bikes have been wrenched on, I think it's a good time to see the Fall colors, that Wine Country has to offer. The next few weeks are going to be really georgous for the grape leaves, and other Flora. I am going to take a ride that envolves both. It will have to be a Sunday. I'm thinking November 4th. This ride falls on Daylight savings, so it will have to happen earlier, kickstands up at 8:00 am.
What I would like to do is the usual "Winery ride" from my house to Dry Creek Market. Over Skaggs Springs Road, to Tin Barn Road. Down to Cazadero, then Northwoods Club for lunch, and then back. I believe that is only a 125 mile loop, but really sweet as far as the sights, and roads.
I have to say after we rode that last year, that has to be (next to the Zin-Zen ride) one of the best all around rides. Twisties, single lanes, Redwoods, Vineyards, Livestock, no traffic, no Squids, views of the ocean, mountians, GAWD we live in riding heaven. We meet at the Dry Creek Market for coffee, and safety meeting (depending on how many new riders show up)
That this ride is brought to by my wife allowing me to ride. For the last four weeks I have hosted my friends from China, gearing up for their South America tour on my only day off, plus the Techday, so every Sunday that I have had off has been a KLR Sunday. Mary said "Another Sunday without you?" I said PAAAALEASSSSE, and then remembered my Birthday is the following Sunday, So she gave me this ride as my Birthday gift. What a great wife, and gift. I look forward to getting out and riding with you all!
I like to look at the Sat maps and street views, can you tell the cross street for Dry Creek Market?
I did find "Dry Creek General Store", same place??
Took a pre-run on part of the route this past weekend, colors are really poping right now. Should be a really nice ride. Weather looks to be great, sunny, and 75 degrees. I have set up a series of stops that will be beneficial to all, and of course lunch at the Northwoods Club. Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Riders that are arriving the night before, show up around 5-5:30pm.
Well, I hate to do this, but I have to pass on this ride. My older son is going on first date of sorts. Since he's not nearly as ugly as me, I need to be chaperone....and chauffer.
