I need some help and you're all gonna help me.

Here is the dealio. My neighbor Walter is this s00per kewl dewd. I've known him for about 6 years now. He is the only neighbor that would lift a finger to help me when I blew out my knee and couldn't walk. He was over here mowing my yard and getting me to the doctor...and he has had a kidney transplant!!!

Well fast forward to a year ago, his kidney starts going out..one foot gets bad. Walter is down to one leg. I start taking care of his pride and joy...his yard. I helped him put in his back yard years ago and he insisted on NOT putting in an irrigation system because he likes dragging a sprinkler around. I don't have the time to keep his back yard watered and summer is on it's way. See where this is going?

Walter was doing really well with his new fake leg...until the other leg failed and now we're down to no legs..it doesn't look like Walter is ever going to get back to mowing and watering. I don't mind mowing and trimming bushes on a long term basis...it's what neighbors do.

I need all of you all to help me put an irrigation system in Walters backyard. We need to move a few plants around. Put in a small paver stone patio and dress up the beds for low maint.

I need 10-12 volunteers for a one day yard-a-thon. I'm going to charge each volunteer $25 to come and help. This will cover all of the cost for the irrigation system and I'll pick up the rest. I figure we can do everything for around $600 and some sweating.

I'm going to do up some flyers(Megan will be doing some flyers) once we have picked a date for sometime in May. We'll post these flyers around the hood and guilt some of these slackers into helping out.

Start chiming in suckahs.

Here's some pics...we're not talking about a huge 'ole yard or anything.

We're gonna turn the raised garden into a rose garden with weed cloth and rocks for ground cover, roses love that stuff.

The hard part? We need to dig up the roses that keep falling over the sidewalk and put them in the back.

The side yard we'll leave pretty much the same, the grass grows nice in the shade.

Another view of the future rose garden.

You can see the slider door down at the end of the house. We need to put in a paver patio for Walter to come out and chill out. He has a way cool high tech wheel chair that rolls really good and I think he'll do fine on pavers. Plus they're quick and easy to install.

Looking the other way, We need to do something about the trees down the center, make a strip style shub bed the full length or something?

I may splurge and have quik kerbs come out and edge the whole thing when we're done with the install.

Okay, I just went over and told Walter what the plan is. He wants to try and kick $200 into the pot. His wife makes good money, but dialysis and wheelchairs and all that stuff is very expensive...so they may not be able to help.

He wants to keep part of the rasied garden for a garden. I'm thinking we can add onto one side and make it kitchen table tall so he can garden from his wheel chair. They're trying to get him a motorized chair right now and if we do a good job smoothing our trenches he should be able to motor around the yard just fine without tipping over.

What's that?

Louie the dawg just threw in $25 and all the fertilizer we can handle.

This is shaping up nicely.

Hmmm, idea here. Maybe we'll paver stone the area from the garage man door to the garden and around the corner to the gate. I'll get a close up pic of that area and see what ya'll think. Sorry for the ya'll-s, I was talkin' to Swish on the phone and it's contagious..ya'll.

Dont move the roses now, they wont make it. String them up to the fence and cut all the flowers off. Weed cloth the Rose garden, rock it and save it for winter.. I'll help move them then.

Pave around the Rose garden too. get rid of the grass betwix the garage and there.. That will make it easier to water the rest of the yard.

Ring the trees .. easier for watering the lawn.

Trim the edge of the yard. cloth/Mulch/rock/round-up.

Keep it super clean, less plants, less work.

Good on ya Rob, I was needing something for the "Help your fellow man"
feel good buzz.
