Rick,

Are you looking to set-up a tech. day group, or are you just looking for a KLR riding group in Georgia? Either way, I reside in Social circle if you're wanting to ride somewhere, give me a shout anytime. Also, I've got a couple of local KLR friends and many more on DixieDualSport.com

Tech Day in GA

It would be cool for either a tech day or a Dual Sport riding group. I live in Marietta. Anybody in the Atlanta area that is looking to do a ride or whatever, I'm in. I am not that tech savvy with my KLR just yet, but if there were some patient fellas that wanted to put tech day together, I'd help organize. I'm going out of town in at the end of the month, and will be gone for until July 12. Anytime before June 21 or after July 12, I'm up for it. Just drop me a line and let me know what works for you.

Ga Tech Day

Hey Ya'll,

Did anything ever happen with this Ga Tech Day? I see the thread started in may '08.
I would be glad to host a tech day here at my shop in Jasper, Ga.
We are a very well equipped workshop with two certified, experienced mechanics. I can arrange to have them on hand for technical assistance. (presuming this would happen on a saturday, we're closed sat/sun)
We can do hickies, or whatever. We could demo a fork service.....I am open to ideas.

What I can offer is: hospitality, a nice facility, and my crew for support and assistance. Also, I would gladly offer a short talk on chassis awareness.

There is some great riding around here.
Maybe we can all go for a group ride when we're finished, or the next day. We're located in the foothills of the smokies. 60 miles due north of Atlanta. 50 minutes of great backroads (some gravel) to get to the cohutta wilderness (for instance). Fall leaf change isn't too far out.

I have never been to a tech day, so I would like some help from someone who has, preferably someone who has hosted.

Anyone interested? TENTATIVE DATE Saturday, Sept 13 '08

yes I am still interested. I really don't want to wait until November for the other tech day. I was thinking about taking my KLR on a road trip the last week in september, but don't want to do it without doin the doohickey first, and I want a trained pro to tell me whether or not it is ready for a thousand mile trip. And, I don't want to wait until November to meet some new riding buddies. I want to ride while the weather is still nice!

Tech Day in Georgia

How about an early and informal "tech MORNING" starting at 8:30 am on saturday sept 13th? Then we go for a ride at about 11 am.

Ya, I know that is short time for wrenchin', but I wanna ride.
I am told it takes less than an hour to do the doo-hickie. I haven't done mine, but I'm not scared.
If anyone wants to do their's, we can.

On that note:
I have two dozen different types of flywheel pullers, but I don't know if I have the right one for the KLR, so someone may have to bring one. I will try to match one of mine at the kaw shop up the road.
Also, I don't have a manual, so that's something else someone needs to bring.
I will order do-hickies and gaskets for any who will call me to pre-arrange.

I will have at least one of my mechanics on hand for the morning in case help is needed. We are a full service repair shop. If anyone needs tires mounted....
Bring your tires or I can order for you.

Or: we don't have to call it a "tech morning", just go for a day ride out of here. Either way, with or without 'tech morning'
I would offer lead an 80'ish mile start-off loop that I really enjoy, then go off to parts unknown (to me, someone else can lead). I know a great little small town Italian restaraunt along the way who would love to have us in for lunch . He opens at 1pm.

Understand please, I am flexible on the above thoughts. except that date is the only one I have open anytime prior to the nov. tech day in Rome area, which I do plan to attend. I just want to do something sooner as well.

Any takers? any thoughts?
