Thumbs up James Bay Ride......

Hi guys and Gals...I am trying to organize a James Bay Ride this Aug. either on the 1st to the 9th OR 15th to the 23rd. It will be a camping adventure to the furthest point you can ride to James Bay. You will need to carry roughly 2 extra gallons of fuel for some portions of the ride as there is a long un serviced section on the way north. You also need to be totally self sufficient, ride a reliable bike and be willing to ride at least 500kms per day.
I think it will be a fantastic adventure to the far northern reaches of the eastern side of Canada to be able to get to James Bay.
We have picked those 2 dates so far to decide between for the warmer weather and hopefully fewer bugs to deal with.
So..if you are interested in joining us on this adventure...please post up.
I am hoping for a 5 or 6 night ride but have made the dates from weekend to weekend just incase.

Hope to hear from you.

There is a long thread running about this ride over at KLR650.net if you want to learn more.....you do know your way back here so no worries right?

I will keep updating it here too for those who don't want to venture over.
Thanks again....and hope to meet you on the ride.

Hi Ya Willys,
I'm leaving WV the last week of July and going up thru Nova Scotia, jumpin to New foundland, then jumpin to Goose Bay.
Once I hit Goose Bay taking the only road west, the Trans Lab.Once in Quebec Provience,Using the James Bay to connect the Trans Tiaga and Route Du Nord.Hopefully, even tho we're talkin massive amount of space,we may run into ya.I'm not on any real time table but have given myself about 30 days to meander thru the Great North and take it all in.My research has been on the net only, but if you know of any other great remote roads around that area I would be greatful of any info you want to share.Camping all the way, except on the ferries.

Augh..yes the dreaded black fly...we are all too well known to each other up here...lol Better make sure your tent and bug suit has no see'um netting. Plus a few gallons of DEET(JK) well a pint might do..lol
How are you planning on carrying your extra gas? and how much?
I thought about doing the tangai road too but with only our short time span we may end up missing it this time.
You know you can get further north if you cross the hydro plant east of Radisson and then travel north on a gravel road to the furtherst north point on James Bay. It's a gravel road for that last stretch.
Bear spray is another good addition to your pack too from what I was told by the lodge up there when camping.....just in case.

Sorry no road number...but I found it by googling in to the area really close and followed the road west from Radisson and then cross over the power station and the road goes northwest up from the power station to the shores of James Bay. All gravel.
