Black Gen II - Hwy 6, between Tonopah...

...and Ely, Nevada. The rider was heading east (toward Ely) when he / she went by me going the opposite direction at the northern end of Railroad Valley. The bike was equipped with soft luggage, and the rider was wearing all the gear even though it was about 95 degrees.

Whoever the rider was, I wish him / her safe travels!

Earlier this month I was headed west toward Ely on US hwy 6 wearing all the gear in the rain. I was riding the Trans-America Trail to Port Orford, OR, but the the abnormal amount of rain in the area required several bypasses. Before taking the highway to Ely it took two hours to make 3/4 mile in the alkali mud all the while seeing trucks on the highway just ahead.

Didn't know 6 was that long.
It passes a few miles south of me going around the lower end of Lake Mi. Cool.

Hwy 6 currently "ends" at Bishop, California - but it used to end down in Southern California.
